HoosierCat
They are a one-year offer for:-- $850k. Team retains the right to match; if they don't they get compensation equal to a draft pick in the round in which the player was originally selected. If the player wasn't drafted, they get nothing.-- $1.3m. Team keeps the right to match, if they dont they get a second round pick.-- $1.8m. Team keeps the right to match, if they don't they get a first round pick.-- $2.35m. Team keeps the right to match, if they don't they get a first and third round pick.Bengals RFAs (round drafted):Stacey Andrews (4)Greg Brooks (6)Landon Johnson (3)Kyle Larson (U)Caleb Miller (3)Shaun Smith (U)They have invested a lot of time in The Dancing Bear, and with Steinbach apparently gone I can't see them letting him go easily. I think they probably put the $1.3m tender out for him.Brooks gets the minimum, and if anyone signs him they will happily take the 6th.I don't see them letting Landon go with the LB corps in such sad shape. But based on Jax's signing of Daryl Smith, a long-term deal for Landon would likely cost something like $20m over 5 years, including $6-8m to sign. If they wanted to get a 3rd round pick back this year, dangling Landon by offering just the minimum would be a way. But I think they offer at least the $1.3m, if not the $1.8m, offer on him. Assuming, of course, they don't use some of that money they "saved" by not re-upping Justin to extend him before the start of FA.Larson I think you have to drop the $1.3m offer on.Miller is another question mark. He ought to be cheaper to resign than Landon, but do you dangle him by just tendering him the minimum? They might but I think they go with the $1.3m offer here.Smith I have no idea because I have no idea if they actually want him back or not. I would say the minimum. schroomytunes
Here is my take on those RFA'sSmith-850Brooks-850Larson-1.3LJ-1.3Miller-1.3Andrews-1.3If you can get a 2nd rounder for any of these guys than you have to offer 1.3, every one of them is replaceable, so dont overpay. Your right if we can get a 6th back for Brooks than even better.
GapControl
Johnson is statistically a nice punter. I think he gets a 1.3 m tender.
GregCook
Brooks and Smith I would not bother with a tender because I don't think the Bengals want them back.Andrews is a stud and must keep, try to sign him long term, if not possible, drop 1.8 mill on him. He'll easily get that on the market, if not more. I expect he'll start for the Bengals anyway next season.Landon is a starter, I'd do 1.8m, again he'll command that and more on the market.Larson is a starter, I'd do 1.3m. Obviously signing both long term is the way to go rather than playing this game.Caleb, 850K.They are a one-year offer for:-- $850k.
