Stripes
This is the first I've seen of this game. I knew the '9ers whooped us in the first half, but damn... I didn't realize we had so many dumb turnovers. Fumbling kickoffs, stupid interceptions, Collinsworth's fumble... Yeesh.

walzav29
I just watched this. I can't believe Billups dropped that int. What a stressful horrible Superbowl. I thought they would just get a field goal. I hate watching it. NFL network has been showing entire unedited SB's. Can you stand watching the entire Superbowl 23? HairOnFire
Yeesh, didn't Jerry Rice have something like 290 yards receiving in that game? Just thinking about it makes my eyes bleed.
jjakq27
Yeesh, didn't Jerry Rice have something like 290 yards receiving in that game? Just thinking about it makes my eyes bleed.I think it was around 210. As far as the first SB, one of my memories is that I started working a paper route with a friend the next day. So of course the paper was full of pictures from the game. It was shear torture folding and banding hundreds of copies of the Post with a picture of a tearful Ken Anderson holding his son as he exited the field after the game. That was a long day. I knew we were the better team that year after we bested the Chargers in the Freezer Bowl. I often wonder if there were any lingering affects from that game even though the Super Bowl was two weeks later. I know that it never did warm up enough for the snow to melt and they had alot of ice in Detroit. I remember hearing that guys were doing donuts in the Silverdome parking lot since they couldn't do anything else because of the weather. I also wonder how a Super Bowl win might have changed the course of this franchise.
jjakq27
Hobson did a nice piece on Super Bowl XVI and some of the players on that team that can't seem to crack the HOF.http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=5873
