HoosierCat
Really? How many 1st round picks do they have to have before you'd agree?I'm not basing my assessment of the Pats offense and the TE's place in it, off of draft picks, I'm looking at what they, y'know, actually do on the field. The most completions they've had to a single TE in the Brady era was Watson's 49 this past season; in total they had 81 completions by TEs in 2006.But that's unusual for NE. In '04 they had just 53 passes caught by TEs; the No. 1 guy had 29. That's more the norm for them. In fact, before this year their previous Brady-era high was 66 catches by TEs (38 by Graham, his career high) in 2003.So, does the Pats offense focus on the TE? No. They utilize it a bit more than the Bengals, but if you want a team that puts the spotlight on TE you need to look in places like Cleveland or Baltimore or San Diego. HairOnFire
I'm honestly not going to waste anymore time arguing with you because your cantor is snobbish and I have yet to see you EVER yield a point to anyone on this board. Arguing with you is like trying to get a crack addict to put down the pipe, useless. Well, if you're interested in smoking my pipe then just say so. The New England example was yours, not mine, and I have no doubt that you brought it up to show how a successful team devotes endless resources to the TE position. Three first day TE's...two in the first round, right? What you didn't bother mentioning is New England's long standing habit of surrounding their QB with less than stellar wideouts, a team building strategy that is the polar opposite of the Bengals approach. So forgive me for pointing out the obvious conclusions that you'd rather just brush aside because they don't fit your argument neatly. In short, that Cincy has never shown that it values the TE position as highly as other teams do...yet still manages to field one of the most productive offenses in the NFL. Face it, you all complain about the Bengals defense, but when push comes to shove you're in favor of adding the last possible piece to the offensive puzzle. Never mind the fact that doing so would mean an unbalanced team becomes even more so.
NYBengalfan
Pats 2nd TE Daniel Graham should be a free agent at the end of the season. Or do we go for one in the the draft in like the 2nd or 3rd round like maybe, Dallas Baker(U of FLA).I dont know just some thoughts. Any other suggestions.
