BengalszoneBilly
We need a lightning fast James Brooks type. The kind of guy that Perry was supposed to be.Key word in that sentence is "supposed." The only thing he was lightning fast to was the IR list. Walrus
Yeah. Put me down for Steinbach, Deltha and Madieu, none of whom had a season befitting their reputations. We all knew Tory was getting older and losing a step. I blame Marvin and Bres for keeping him in there. What players met or exceeded expectations this year? Precious few. Joseph. Peko. Maybe Whitworth (but he was schooled at LT by Freeney and Elvis Dumervil). Now that I think about it, basically all rookies who played did well, so there's a silver lining to our season. The only veterans I can think of who stepped up are KK and Reggie Kelly. Gotta give Willie his props. Oh yeah, and Kyle Larson had a good season, too! GregCook
My bad, Jjoe has earned some strong Ethan Kilmer gets some too.Whitworth and Peka, too lovable rookiesNo Jjoe love?
HairOnFire
Jo Jo, Whitworth, Peko, and Kilmer have already paid outstanding dividends. Nicked and dinged Rucker, Brazell, and Nicholson get another chance next year. Best draft ever?
HoTbOy
TJames and CBresnahan get my vote, I will hate if anyone of those 2 are still on the roster come kickoff 2007...SAdams gets an honorable mention...
Kirkendall
Rudi Johnson had a down season, no doubt. In fact, his mainstream numbers (other than touchdowns) are way down. His YPC his a career low. But his metrics were horrible. Metrics are a good way to determine a player's value -- and Rudi's value was very much in the middle. More here. My only "low" grade of M.Williams is his tackling. He tends to overshoot and miss tackles. But in all honesty, he misses the same amount as most players. I can't hate on the guy though. He's typically playing a deep coverage/eight man in the box type of game. Ed Reed just hung out over top while corners ran single-coverage. Williams and the Bengals do not play that type of system. At this time, I'm not even convinced that Chuck B. is the problem. I could point out the execution was just pathetic down the stretch. Have you ever seen linebackers in zone coverage completely turn their backs to the quarterback to drop back 15 yards (ala Indy game)?Coaching staff. I'm not sure what the problem is. Offensively, we have coaches that could be leaving town for promotions. That's a very good indicator of our offensive coaching staff. Darrin Simmons has established a special teams that's considered pretty dag-um good (except the return game). Coverage team, all season, was incredible. Kyle Larson had a great season (by his standards) and improves every season. I would support the defensive staff to be troublesome in getting their players ready. But at the same time, these players NEED to execute. Marvin has said it every week. If he believed it was a coaching deal, then wouldn't he fire them? Who cares if Chad rubs people wrong. He lead the NFL in receiving yards. He's doing his part. What else do you want? And there's no evidence Chad's rubbing people wrong. This is where I think Anderson and Palmer talking about selfishness was a bad thing because speculation and PFT take over generating rumorvilles. HairOnFire
And there's no evidence Chad's rubbing people wrong. How about safety Brian Russell deliberatly going for his head? Not only did that hit knock Chad three kinds of goofy, but it cracked up the rest of the Brownies, including several secondary players that Chad insists are friends. Something tells me the same players who once recieved bottles of pink Pepto haven't forgot who sent them. And let's not forget the way DeAngelo Hall physically whipped Chad on the first play of the game until Johnson was well out of bounds OR the cheap shot Hall's teammate delivered the moment Chad stepped back on the field? Both players claimed that there was no harm intended, yet both admitted their actions were the result of Chad mocking Hall for months. Ehhh???? The point, I'm assuming was within the team. If the point was with others in the league, then I question the logic in that point -- especially when way more than two guys say that Chad is a fun guy that no one takes offense to. HairOnFire
Who cares if he rubs the other team wrong. The point, I'm assuming was within the team. Please forgive. I misunderstood the point. (It happens.) My biggest complaint with Chad is centered upon him being the goofy public face of the franchise, and the near weekly examples of colorful Chadwickian quotes that provide motivational fodder for other teams. In regards to the former I think he lends the impression that the Bengals aren't focused or serious. In regards to the later I think his act is wearing thin throughout the NFL and encourages cheap shots from opposing players. As for within the Bengals roster, after the season ended Marvin felt compelled to address the issue of if a double standard existed on his team...Chad being the poster boy...a point that wouldn't have come up if observers close to the team hadn't asked the question. How about kimo was he trying take palmer out for talking too much?Chad insists are friends. Something tells me the same players who once recieved bottles of pink Pepto haven't forgot who sent them.None of the starters are even left on the team from what that happened.Daylon McCutcheon,Anthony Henry and safeties Robert Griffith and Earl Little...Russell was just trying make a big hit...Did Dawkins hate Cliff Russell or Coles when he german suplexed them ? Did Kimo take palmer out for having a big mouth? examples of colorful Chadwickian quotes that provide motivational fodder for other teams. So no one has extra motivational fodder to pick Carson off for being a elite QB?People don't bring their A game just because their playing marvin harrison who is a mute? HairOnFire
German suplex? I think that's something I ordered at a resturant once. For the record, I'm pretty sure it was a pork dish covered in saurkraut and the blood of the innocent.
