Whur CHad At?
With an abyssmal performance going on in natl. championship game, he is looking like a freshman not a heisman quarterback. I know part of it is due to the fact that Teddy G. is out, but Troy is a playmaker, and is suppose to make BIG plays when it counts. He just isn't doing it.He will be a late 2nd, early 3rd pick. jackbauer
No not at all...not because of one game... yea hes a playmaker but that offensive line sucked tonight...thats what lost them the game....and OSU's defense...and well...Florida was just the better "team" in general in every aspect of the game...Leaks stock was just raised but I dont think Troy Smiths dropped down past the top ten...if at all
Stripes
Yeah that game was on the two lines. There wasn't much Troy could do.I don't think he'll blow anyone away at the NFL Combine, however, and expect him to be a mid first day pick. Kazkal
This will atleast end talk he's a top 10 pick....late rnd 1 - 2nd rnder.
BlainThePain
It's still going to come down to the combine, but I think he's an early second rounder.
schweinhart
I thought a desperate team like the Clowns might reach for Troy early in the 2nd and give themselves a good PR spin for the fan base plus have a realistic chance of improving an abysmal QB situation....But that performance was as bad as it gets and showcased why some teams looking for a QB probably won't even have Smith on their draft board. The field level shots showed just how little he can see with defenders moving in and his rollouts and scrambles showed he's not going to be off and running vs. defenders with NFL speed. The only thing to salvage from that was not having Ginn or an OC who could call plays to get the ball out of his hands via RB screens, quick slants or underneath crosses. Smith looked viable vs. Michigan but in this one he made Chris Leak look like the better QB prospect, which is real hard to do since Leak is a longshot to get drafted at all.I'd say the Clowns take Troy Smith in the 3rd for now but maybe the 4th after he has to get grouped with the other QB prospects at the combine and his shortcomings become glaring again. Hopefully Smith takes the opportunity to play in the Senior Bowl to try to get back some of what he lost last night.
MacD BengalFan
It's still going to come down to the combine, but I think he's an early second rounder.Troy will be fine. He had one bad game but it was unfortunate that it was on the national stage. But he has the drive to over come this and will do very well at the Senior Bowl in a couple of weeks as well as the combine. He will be a high 1st round pick. Just not with Cleveland since they have no offensive line and he will get killed there. Plus with Frye and Alexender there, I do not believe this would be a good pick for the Browns because of the O-line problems. I think he will end up in Philly as McNabb is nearing the end of his career and Jeff Garcia is not the long term answer there. But Troy will land on his feet and show everyone that last night was an aberation and not the norm.
Kazkal
Browns woulden't start him though if they took him but still they may never have a Oline.
BengalChamps
No matter how you look at it, Troy lost MILLIONS of dollars last night!
MacD BengalFan
No matter how you look at it, Troy lost MILLIONS of dollars last night!I totally disagree with this. Troy had one bad game, actually the worst of his college career. Unfortunatly it was the biggest game of his career. If one bad game cost Troy millions as you allude to, then Brady Quinn will not be drafted because of the mulitiple bad games he has had during his career. Troy will rebound and prove that this was an aboration and not the norm. He will go middle to late first round because of his show the scouts what he can do in his Senior Bowl apperance and at the combine. He is a fighter and will overcome this set back. I think the Eagles will draft him.
Whur CHad At?
That won game was the national championship game, not a game against Illinois or someone else. EVERYBODY saw it, scouts saw it, it was a horrible performance. When you are voted the best player in college football, you MUST perform. He lost his place as a first round, even possibly second round pick.
schweinhart
I'd say Troy is probably still in the same scrum he was to begin with....4th through 7th QB (if Brohm declares) along with Drew Stanton, Kevin Kolb and Jordan Palmer. Make it 4-8 if the Hawaii run and shooter comes out. There were 7 QBs last year in Day 1.

I think the Eagles will draft him.Let me explain. I he has a Vince Young type performace, he may have vaulted to R1 or even the top half of R1. Now he drops to 2nd day of the draft after seeing how he performs against a close to NFL type D(very fast). No Penn St or Minnesota D's in the NFL. Dropping from 1st half of R1 -to- 2nd day = MILLIONS of dollars.
BlainThePain
Troy's draft stock will fall a whole lot worse than this after his height gets measured at the combine. After the game when he standing next to Chris Leak you could tell Smith was shorter than Leak. I'm telling you right now that Smith is under six feet.
