Good move for the Falcons IMO... he's a coach with a lot of potential and he will do a good job there

No doubt ... good choice. Boy, what does this have to say about Whisenhunt? I mean, the guy is from Atlanta and even played there. He is considered a big 'offensive mind', which is clearly what the Falcons wanted. Yet, they hurriedly chose Petrino. Anyway ... good choice. (I'm hoping the Steelers make either Whisenhunt or Grimm their guy ... everyone else seems to interview them but not want to hire them ... hmmm ;) )

He will be a bust just like Spurier and Saban....IMO

Petrino does have something that Spurrier and Saban didn`t have and that is previous NFL coaching experience. Petrino was with the Jags as QB Coach and Offensive Coordinator before going to Auburn, then Louisville.

My guess is they're trying to get a guy to put in a wide-open offense that will work well with Vick, which is more Petrino's thing than Whizzy.

GapControl: Saban has been an NFL assistant, though Spurrier wasn't. I think Saban could have made it in the pros with a passable QB. He had a good defense and a fair running back in Ronnie Brown. But Jokey Harrington and the ghost of Culpepper won't get it done.
