jjakq27
On Christmas Eve, after the Denver game, a few of my friends and I came up with the idea that the Bengals staff may have purposely had a conservative game plan for the Colts game the week before. Feeling that we might end up playing Indy again in the playoffs, did the coaching staff scheme this game like a preseason game? Believing that they had one game to play with, did they gamble that they would beat Denver and clinch their playoff spot there? After some discussion and thought, I think I believe it to some extent. The defense was the strangest that I have seen in a while. And once Willie Anderson went out, I felt like the offensive game plan was to just get out with no injuries. I may be wrong but there was something very strange about that game. Especially since Jacksonville beat them pretty handily the week before and Houston beat them the next week. Whur CHad At?
Well, if it was like that Marvin Lewis should be fired. You play to win the game. If that embarrassing s**t show was done on purpose,we have some major problems.
Riagogogoindanati
THE MORE I HEAR FROM MY DAD ABOUT THE MARVIN INTERVIEWS ON LOCAL TV IN CINCINNATI..........THE MORE I BELIEVE HE HAS BEEN OUT SMOKING CRACK WITH STANLEY WILSON...........WTF IS GOING ON? MARV NEEDS TO TAKE CONTROL OF THIS TEAM AND DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO WIN EACH GAME EACH WEEK. I SEEM TO NOTICE THAT BRESH AND BRAT HAVE A GAME PLAN GOING INTO THE GAME AND DON'T ALTER IT ONE WAY OR THE OTHER. IT ALSO FEELS LIKE THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO COACHING GOING ON AT HALF TIME. IT MAKES ME WONDER IF ALL THEY DO AT THE HALF IS GO IN TO THE LOCKER ROOM RETAPE THEIR ANKLES AND COME BACK OUT. WTF.........I'M FRUSTRATED WHAT CAN I SAY. I didn't have a problem w/ the original gameplan but, once the Colts grabbed a lead, the plan should have included more downfield passing instead of staying the same.No one tanks in the NFL. If we ended up playing the Colts this week, they would have had 15 weeks worth of film to gameplan around. There are no secrets. WHO-DEY! HairOnFire
Tanked? No, I'm not buying it. I think the truth is far more simple. They simply weren't good enough. Plus, they seem to have no answers for the Colt's offense....which I'm told is fairly common.

I may be wrong but there was something very strange about that game. Especially since Jacksonville beat them pretty handily the week before and Houston beat them the next week.If you and your friends came up with that idea, well then you guys are a regular bunch of rocket-scientists NOTLet me try to explain, for you and your simple minded friends. First the Offensive game planThe Bengals obviously knew(along with the whole world) the Colts Run D stunk. They were determined to run on the Colts for 2 reasons. Reason 1, other teams have had success running the footbal vs. their defense, and there was no reason to think the Bengals would not also have success. Reason 2, by running the football, they would in turn, eat up the clock, thereby keeping the Colts Offense off of the field. Unfortunately, when they fell behind by more than 1 score, they did not abandon this strategy like they should have. Now the Defensive game-planYou cant argue with the Defensive game-plan and what they were trying to do, the only thing you can argue with, is that they stayed with it for too long, and when they were losing. The Bengals goal was obviously to try and stop the Colts Offense, but if they did give up anything, they were going to make sure it was a shorter play. The main reasons for that Defensive gameplanning are last season's game vs. the colts and how they were constantly burned by big plays which resulted in quick scores. Also, they had to play this way coming into the game defensively, because of their offensive gameplan, if they were going to run the ball and eat up the clock on offense, they COULD NOT give up quick scores on big plays defensively and send the offense right back on the field. Unfortunately Peyton Manning took everything the Bengals gave him, and picked them apart on 5-15 yard passes. So, the Bengals coordinators shouldnt take that much heat for their Gameplans going into the game, as they were good "in theory". What they should take heat for is, the un-excusable, and that is staying with a gameplan for waaaaaaay too long when its not working, and as a result, digging yourself in a hole that you are unable to climb out from. The problem I see with both Bratkowski and Bresnehan is that they lack any creativity whatsoever, are completely incapable of making in-game changes, and are basic and predictable in the plays/formations that they use.
