And now, a thread devoted to T.J., my favorite Bengal

Chad's got all the flamboyance, Henry's got the rap sheet but nobody is as rock solid steady on the Bengals receiving corps or for that matter in the NFL as Housh. IMO, he is their most reliable receiver, even more so than Chad who can be very streaky but gets in a funk sometimes. No silly antics with T.J., no "look-at-me" episodes with shoes and painted mohawks but if it's 4th and 20 and you've really got to have it, your season is riding on it and your life depends upon it - GO TO T.J.! He is the definition of clutch. Sure, he's human and even he drops one on occasion. Just less than everbody else. And when he is absolutely hammered and bulldozed immediately after making a catch, nobody holds on to the ball better than T.J. Nobody!

Did you forget the shine your shoes episode a la 2005 in ketchup stadium?

BTW........one of my faves from Hooshurmomma

I'll try to find the file photo.

I must have missed that one. What happenned? If Housh did a Chad that day, then that was a rarity for him. Most of the time, he just makes plays and leaves the show-biz to others.

Search on Bengalszone leads me to good 'ol jjakg27............thanks man! U R DA BEST! I knew my Bengal brethren would not fail me! :o)

and now I must make it my avatar. hehe!

Please elaborate on what this was all about. What was the meaning of what T.J. was doing here? A spoof? A slam? I don't recall it at all.

Also, if anyone else is a T.J. fan and would like to voice their admiration, please post it to this thread. Thanks!

That was after we beat Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh and took a 2 game lead in the division. He was shining his shoes with the 'terrible towel', on their field. It was definately a classic.

When I first saw the photo, I didn't realize that he was using a "terrible towel". Thanks for the explanation. That's funny. A rare off the field, spotlight grabbing moment for T.J.

tj is a beast and the best receiver on this team. everyone in my fantasy league ragged on me for taking tj before a lot of other wideouts . now tj and my team won the championship wonder what they think of him now!

Yeah, he had a good year. More than the fantasy stats, what's really important is the proportion of his catches that just barely get the first down. I've never seen any wideout work so hard to get to the sticks after catching the ball short.

The Bengals players have sometimes been accused of being soft. Honestly, I think some of them are. But TJ is one of those guys you go to war with.

Its because of what I've said on numerous other posts, because TJ is such a great Route-Runner. He has worked/continues to work very hard at that. He knows exactly where he needs to be, and exactly when he needs to be there, which makes him their most valuable receiver on "timing-routes". The thing that he does not nearly get enough credit for though, is his Concentration. His eyes are where they are supposed to be....

..on the ball, always looking it in to his hands the whole way, no matter who else is around, wheteher he will take a hit or not, and definately not(like Chad and Henry at times) looking down the field to run with the ball after the catch, which is why we've seen Chad numerous times this season drop balls because he was reaching back accross his body to make a catch because he was more concerned with turning and running up-field with it rather than just making the damn catch.....look no further than his juggling TD catch in the 1st Pitt game, as to the level of concentration he has, and how his eyes are on the ball until its in his hands, no matter who is around.

Every team needs a receiver like TJ, is he the best on the team, no. Is he the most consistent, yes. He makes those tough catches because he is asked to, the Bengals don't run Chad across the middle too often, in the 3 WR sets, TJ works out of the slot, so he gets a lot of chances to make those quick catches across the middle. That is not Chad's game. I think Henry could make hard catches across the middle too, if he gets his head out of his azz.

The success of the 3 WR's the Bengals have depend on each other. If TJ is not clearing out the middle of the field in the slot, than you can't get over the top to Henry/Chad. If Chad and Henry don't pose the deep threat they do, then the middle would be clogged up for TJ. It's that simple.

He really held it well sunday when he was blasted by Rookie fs Anthony Smith! On top of dropping it he looked like he was going to cry. He also dropped one in the endzone last year when the Steelers came into the "jungle" and sent you home the first time. That is clutch :)

What does that even mean? Let's see, you're sitting on your couch and you can tell that a football player on the field of play is about to cry? Yeah, right. A grown man ... a professional football player ... in the midst of a professional football game ... in front of his home town ... in the midst of his team mates ... is "going to cry"? Seriously, let's don't be ridiculous here. Who in their right might would do that? Other than someone like Dick Vermeil, who would ever actually CRY in such a scenario? Seriously, no MAN would ever do that.

(uhhhmmm ... Wines Hard?)
