Hines Ward Quote

Hines Ward, Steelers WR

"They kept running that same blitz the whole time," Ward said. "It was their blitz of the day, I guess. And Ben saw it. He was on the same page with Santonio and gave him a chance to run after the catch. Santonio just took it to the house from there. He was just running scared." Said Holmes: "He knows I was running scared, just for the simple fact I wanted us to get off the field. We gave those guys a lot of opportunities to beat us and they really didn't want it as bad as we did."

Pretty much epitomizes things. Chuck and his stupid simplified game plans and the Bengals' not having any heart nor wanting to win badly enough.

Fire Breshnahan please for the love of God. He is out-coached by anyone worth a damn.

The Bengals got ripped on that same play at the 2 minute mark in the 4th quarter ahead by 3. Bengals blitz, Holmes breaks off into slant, makes a long gain putting Pitt in FG range. If they don't see this things develop and other teams do, that is a huge problem.

How many times did we watch TJ, Chad and Henry get lit up after a catch?

Now how many times did you see our team light someone up in the same fashion?

We played to passively.

no intimidation from anywhere on the field... why is that?

Who do we have in the secondary who really lays the wood? All our corners are speed/tecjnique guys. Madieu used to hit some before his bum shoulder, not really now. DJ and KK are good but not really hitters.

I noticed the same thing. Need to blow up players on the opposing team from time to time.

So the only coaches you'd keep is Marvin, Oline and Backfield? Then who's telling Carson that the rebuilding has begun and we'll try for a SB when he's almost 30? As for cuts, its the defense that is bleeding uncontrolled, half the defense shouldn't be starters next year. Focus on them. And I agree with Bresh being let go. No choice.

Isn't Alexander the same guy everyone was saying was so great last year when the O-line gave up the fewest sacks of all time? This year was simply the result of having playing time by 2 rookies and one second year guy, along with the fact Palmer held onto the ball more than he did last year.

i only have 2 offensive coaches leaving and they should go . no matter how you slice it the defense needs rebuilt from the ground up which is a must. how do you figure its a total rebuild it's not it' is replacing the jackasses that are holding this team back. would you rather go into next season with the piss poor coaches we have now i don't. carson and the offense have been around long enough that they could easily adjust to a new oc. i want a guys that can get the most out of the guys he coaches. not guys that players do not respect. suck at adjustments during games and totally play the wrong schemes for the teams there playing. we were 8-8 with the jackasses coaches we have now. do you really think competent coaches would take 3 years to to get this team right no way.

no all the coaches would not be gone the remaining coaches would be.

Perhaps the fact that you have so many assistants is part of the problem. Why do you need a DB assistant, a ST assistant, and a LB assistant? Can't the regular coaches of those positions handle the job by themselves? If not, fire them and get people who can.

I am not going to disagree with you on 'need', etc for so many assistant coaches, but I think you'll find that this is the norm, even within the Steelers' organization. I know absolutely that the Steelers at least have the same except for maybe the 'Gunther' position, but even with that they might just call it something else, etc. At worst, the Bengals have 1 more guy among the positions.

Well, I don't know the entire Steelers' coaching staff, but as far as I know, the only "assistant" anything we have is Russ Grimm, the assistant head coach, who I think got that title because Cowher didn't want to do as much since he's considering retirement. I mean, sure, we have an offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, DB coach, O-line coach, ST coach, etc. But I don't think we have 2 guys doing the same job.

Kinda sick to see two ex Bengals players as coaches for the Steelers.

the Steeler's actually have more coaches than the bengals do. 17 to 16

That's my point. It's just the norm. You can argue over whether it should be necessary or not, and surely over 'quality' of coaches (duh), but it is what it is in the NFL today.

The Bengals could extra coaches as escorts for the players just to keep them out of trouble.

Ed Reed made some type of similar comments regarding our offense during the first Baltimore game. I don't remember what he said exactly but I think it was something about being surprised at something we did or continued to do during that game. Any help?
