Kazkal
What are your thoughts on the guy? sense he declared theres been a sudden droolfest by mockers.
DuffMan
Right now is probably the OLB with the best combo of speed, size, and athletic ability in the draft. Right up there if not above Puz to some (combine could be the judge). Timmons probably reminds people of Derrick Johnson with his size/speed combo. Everett might not be far off though. schweinhart
Timmons brings a whole lot of potential to the table. I seriously doubt he's got the wherewithal right now to be coveted as a coverage backer beyond short area, though, and the greatest interest for Timmons should come from teams who want him in the short-term as a SSLB 4-3 backer or an OLB in the 3-4. His strength is attacking the line but his quickness and speed make him an intriguing project with at least the raw athletic ability to ultimately play any LB position in any base. He's got that more than any LB prospect out there and it should be enough to kick him into the 1st round but probably in the bottom third.Another kicker with Timmons is his special teams play. He's got to be the best non-returner special teams player to come out for awhile and that only adds to his appeal.

schweinhart
Good thing that was James Farrior and not Lawrence Timmons hitting Palmer. Timmons would've broke ribs. The Steelers would likley be interested in Timmons in the 1st. He'd be an upgrade over Porter, Haggans and Harrison. Kazkal
Isen't he kinda undersized for 3-4 OLB ?Most steeler fans want Woodley or moses.
schweinhart
Timmons has got the frame but not the thick yet to do what Joey Porter does. But most of Timmons rush damage for the Noles came stand up at end. He doesn't play down. I got the Steelers taking more of a down end/OLB in Anthony Spencer in the 2nd and the Pats nabbing Timmons in the 1st. But Moses and Woodley would both be good fits to replace Joey Porter. If the Steelers want to upgrade Haggans, then Timmons would be the better OLB. LeBeau would slobber with what he could do with Timmons. Ya ever gonna share this mock with the rest of us? Your one up on the mock draft board is gettin' mighty stale...Yeah but the flux is fast right now and the season had to play out before getting a better handle on who looks like they'll be able to do what.Since the above, I'm thinking Brian Brohm stays at U of L especially after hearing his comments at the end of last night's bowl game.....As such, the picks gets reshuffled. Which will no doubt happen again as soon as I post a 2nd round mock by halftime of tonight's Sugar Bowl ( a game featuring the #1 and #2 overall picks on that list).I will say in the 2 and 1/2 months since the last mock, 4 early entries are out -- Brohm, Sam Baker, Lawrence Jackson and James Hardy -- because they are apparently all staying for their senior years. 6 of the 1st rounders on that 1st mock have slid to the 2nd and one -- Marcus Thomas -- is gone. But fear not Cat 7 projected early entries find the new 1st round and 4 more seniors have played their way into the 1st round IMO.
Kazkal
Think Brohm would enter if raiders told him he'd be 1#? not saying would be just seems be QB raider fans like.
HairOnFire
Think Brohm would enter if raiders told him he'd be 1#? If I'm the GM of the Raiders the first thing I'd do is start pimping Brady Quinn. The second thing I do is make it known that the pick is available if the trade return is great enough. And finally, the third thing that I do is make sure that someone in the Cleveland Brown's front office has my phone number.
Kazkal
Why would browns wanna trade up? at 3# They win no matter what.1.)AP-a Playmaker Running back who could give fans something be excited about.2.)Joe Thomas-Help their offensive line hopfully he's no gallery 2x.3.)Brady Quinn,Jamarcus Russel or what ever QB they like....I don't see them taking QB but if AP and Thomas were both off the board and Calvin diden't enter I could see them taking QB just because of postion if they coulden't trade down. HairOnFire
Why would browns wanna trade up? at 3# They win no matter what. The Browns are a gay organization that has always put player loyalty and hometown sentiment over pure talent. For example, when Bernie Kosar left Miami he lobbied for the Browns to bring him home and they happily complied. When Chris Speilman said he wanted to end his career as a Brown they did the predictable and made it happen. When Tim Couch said that it had always been his childhood dream to play for the Browns they made dreams come true, and in the process never gave Donavan McNabb a second look. And when LeCharles Bentley made it clear that he wanted to come home to play football the Browns quickly gave up on Jeff Faine and made a spot for the hometown hero. And who wouldn't want to play for the Browns? After all, they overpay everyone. The payoff? John Clayton reported yesterday that people close to Brady Quinn had contacted the Browns on his behalf to let them know how much he wants to play for the Browns. So if I work for the Raiders I make sure it gets known that Oakland is targeting Brady Quinn, but will listen to all offers. And what's more, if I'm that guy in Oakland I think I double my efforts if Quinn didn't interest me at all. Ehhh?
Kazkal
why hell would quinn wanna be a brown lol.only team in top 5 might have some success in next few years would be tampa...eh also don't forgot troy was wearing a browns jersey around
schweinhart
Think Brohm would enter if raiders told him he'd be 1#? not saying would be just seems be QB raider fans like.I think Brohm would decide not to enter if the Raiders told him he'd be #1 overall, just like his coach told Al no thanks on the head coaching job. Brohm didn't commit himself to return during the Orange Bowl post-game interview on the field with all the U of L fans there cheering him but he came pretty close. The Brohm lineage is so entrenched at U of L and the lure of a national championship has to make it doubly hard for Brohm not to stay. But if he does enter, he's the 3rd QB IMO. The QB Al would be dangling is JaMarcus Russell, not Brohm or Quinn.
