Hate to make excuses but....

Is it possible that Palmer's suckiness was because his shoulder is actually hurt? He just seemed to suck real bad and I forgot about the hurt shoulder talk. Like an idiot I watched the replay on the NFL network and he missed so many throws, but then again Chad missed a bunch of catches. I'm starting to think TJ may be the steak and Johnson the sizzle.

lol hair!

almost 4000 yards the next season after major surgery. um, its a LONG season - i dont see anything wrong with palmer besides possible soreness and fatigue.

a bunch of catches? no. He missed what 2? and if you havent seen chad play over the past 6 years - hes the filet mignon. hes the guy that makes thing happen. TJ is more of a possession guy with semi ability to make things happen with great route running - but thats chads IMO too. Id say TJ is stronger and has better leg strength allowing him to get more YAC, but chads ability to get to the ball is unmatchable.

Most of his misses were simple overthrows. Perhaps he's compensating for injury, but it's more likely he was too jacked up for the game.

TJ and Chad are both very good and very different receivers. Chad is the big play guy. TJ is the guy you throw the ball to 5 yards short of the sticks on 3rd down and know he's making the first.

CJ's catch on 'the call' 4th and 1 against Carolina was one of a kind- I would be willing to say only possibly someone like Marvin Harrison could have made a grab like that. Seems like Chad's best grabs are the ones that look like incomplete passes until he gets up holding the ball and we see the zebra's moving dem chains..

I dont think it was the shoulder, because had it bothered him that much, he would have Under-Threw rather than Over-Threw a lot of passes.

Honestly, for you to say he sucked, obviously you've never played the QB position in wet/snowy conditions.

Footballs are made of leather, and filled with air, The Cold and Mositure can affect the way a ball sails/is thrown.

Thats why sometimes you see them heating the balls on the sidelines. Refs will also towel off the balls after each play(if in wet conditions) BUT before the ball is snapped, it is placed on the WET ground. The QB can still grip it, but if even 1 finger should slip as the ball is released, that can cause the ball to sail too high/left/right etc.

Palmer is one of the most accurate passers in the league (#1 compl % last yr & 63.1% this yr)

so if he was making poor throws on a warm, dry day, then you can use the word(or not-a-word) "suckiness"

Chad has great hands

TJ's hands are a little bit better, not to mention his concentration.

Chad definately is faster, and more of a big-play threat with an uncanny ability to manuever his body to make some amazing grabs.

TJ is one of, IF NOT THE toughest receiver in the league, with absolutely no fear of going over-the-middle, and hanging on to the ball even after taking a big hit (learn from him Chris Henry)

Chad has more "moves" and better separation skills and is extremely effective at breaking off his routes to find an open space.

TJ is a better "Route-Runner" making him extremely valuable to Palmer on timing routes, as Carson knows exactly where TJ will be.

Bottom Line, both are Elite receivers who are a perfect compliment to each other, and any QB's dream, with Chad being the acrobatic, home-run deep threat, with ability to burn and out-manuever opponents, and score from anywhere on the field.

And TJ being a sure-handed possession receiver, with great concentration, who knows how to find the open spots in the defense and isnt afraid to get hit and makes the tough-catches.

--by the way----just to clarify one thing---Yes, I said TJ's hands are better than Chad's. Honestly, both have great hands and its hard to say who's are better(remember Chad won the best-hands competition at the NFL skills competition last year) But the main reason why I say TJ is because TJ uses his discipline and technique to make his hands better. For example, TJ will run slant or crossing route, and knowing where the ball will be thrown, he will (just as the ball gets to him) slightly slow down/pause allowing him to SQUARE HIS SHOULDERS and be in a good position to make the catch. Johnson on the other hand, sometimes shows his lack-of-discipline on those same slant or crossing routes with dropped passes, often a direct result of him looking ahead to run with it after the catch, whereas if he slightly paused/slowed, he would be able to square himself and wouldnt find himslef reaching back accross his body to make the catch.

i dunno about tj being a better route runner. Chads whole thing is his route running. Its the reason he started his career off great.

As far as running the routes as they are designed ,how and where a receiver should be, and when they get there, the lines/angles.....the way TJ runs them is textbook. He is a better "pure" route runner.

Chad's whole thing isnt his "route-running", its his Ability to separate, with his quickness, and his

moves/double moves, and his ability to improvise, and break-off his routes to get open if he sees the QB getting flushed out of the pocket for example.

please dont misunderstand what i'm saying. TJ is a better route-runner, technically and fundamentally, but he had to work harder in terms of proper execution of routes than Chad has. Because he doesn't have the speed/quickness and some of the moves Chad has. So give the man his due.
