I'll start it, you guys can continue with it.....

More Carson and his comeback efforts, less Odell and is lack of sense

More Kilmer and his hustle, less Henry and wasted talent

More Big Willie and his effort, less players showing up on the DL

More Holts and busting their a**es on special teams, less draftees that are no-shows

More Kevin K's capitalizing on their limited talent for the team, less flash in a pan DBs

Heck, overall ever notice the leadership and presence on the offense compared to the defense? Like night and day. And people wonder why the Patriots won 3 of 4 Super Bowls?

Just look at our defense. We have no consistent playmakers. Yeah we usually have 1 or 2 guys step up each game but they are never the same guys. Every good defense in the NFL has a leader (Chicago-Urlacher, Baltimore-Lewis and Reed, Miami-Thomas and Taylor, etc.) who exactly is the Bengals? I mean the biggest name on D that we got is Smith and chances are he's going to be chasing the end of a rainbow for that pot of gold(I'd just thought I'd throw a metaphor in there :lmao:) at the end of the season. Ever since Takeo left I can't think of anyone that's stepped up on a weekly basis to lead the D.

Leadership is one thing but we need more playmakers on D. Pollack and Odell were primed to do just that but sadly we will probably never see either in stripes again.

Madieu and LJ show glimpses but not often enough.

Also I would like to see the DBs practice catching the ball for at least 100 reps each every day. One or two more INTs this year and we would be in already.

I watched the NFL replay of the Bronco game last night. In the second half Madieu was playing his arse off.

Always does.

I think Peko and JJ will be play makers.

Look at how both have improved being put in as starters as rookies. Neither one ever take a play off. Sure JJ got turmed around a time or two but he is fundamentally sound, has great closing speed and will learn to catch better.

Peko, I have been very impressed with. especially against Denver, he was moving lineman around all night.

Who knows on the Brooks, Rucker those guys, may work out or may not. Even though there may be personal behaviour issues there is a possibility they will be diamonds in the rough.

I did read that the bengals will be around 30 mil under the cap next year. Maybe Katie will make the one or two moves on defense that may solididy an truly average defensive corp.

Get a good corner in the draft, add a FA corner to mentor. Add a defensive pass rusher and lose Smith. Who knows could be what the defense needs (sans Chuck) to take it to the next level.

I hear you all, it sucks having Chad on the team huh ??

Nobody said he sucked. But until further notice, and in the interests of team maturity, I think I'd like to see more Housh and less Chad.

Frankly, I'm sick of Chad Johnson being the public face of this franchise. So muzzle him, gag him, or hide him from the cameras, but let's drop the circus act. And if you can't stop the clowning, and I doubt you can at this point, then do the next best thing by featuring other players.

And the madder they are the better.

Isn't that one of the reasons Dexter Jackson was signed? Other than the games where he was out injured, I think he's provided some much needed leadership on the field.

Abso-freakin-lutely......pay attention to him while the D is on the field, he communicates what he sees to the

other Defenders. You can look to the draft for Defense, but the rookies wont have the Veteran Savvy, It takes timeto learn to read and recognize. And Rookies generally have poor fundamentals tackling & take bad angles that they get away with in college, by "arm-tackling" or just laying a big hit. That doesnt work in the NFL, you have to wrap-up otherwise the NFL RB's are more likely to bounce-off those hits if you dont wrap-up. Jackson is the most fundamentally sound "tackler" on the team, others should learn from him.

Dexter Jackson, and Sam Adams were brought in not only for their play on the field, but so the younger players can learn from them as well. Jackson(when he's played) has been the most consistent Defensive player. Solid all game long, every game.

The only reason Jackson is overlooked, is because when you look at the stat sheet, after the game, his numbers may not "wow" you, they're solid, and dont always reflect the impact he has on the field.

If we only had 11 guys who played the way he does(being in position, taking proper angles and following through on tackles)rather than "gambling" and have 1 big game(ie. 2 Sacks/2Ints) and then disappear, we would no doubt be a Super Bowl team.

As, for Adams, yes his numbers leave a lot to be desired for, but they also dont reflect the impact he has on the game.

Why do you think we are 12th in the NFL in rushing Defense?

Is it because of our LB's ?......uh...no

Is it because of our DE's?......uh....no

Is it (with exception to Jackson) because of the tackling of our Secondary?.....uh....no---Tory, Deltha,Madieu Cant/Wont tackle for Chit.

The big reason why we are 12th as opposed to annually being one of the worst Run D's is because other teams no longer play smashmouth, and just run right up the middle anymore. They bounce outside the guards and tackles. Honestly, how many times(I cant count that high) have we seen over the years, teams just run right through HUGE holes up the middle, and just smash through the LB's and DB's? Pittsburg used to(Bettis&co.), Baltimore used to(Lewis&co.) even Cleveland used to(Suggs/&co.) ...................

Adams' numbers may not look that good, but a big part of the reason is that teams no longer just smash it up the middle.

So.......what it really comes down to is......

---MORE SOLID DEFENSIVE PLAYERS WHO KNOW AND DO THEIR JOB CONSISTENTLY

---AND LESS PLAYERS WHO WANT TO GAMBLE, TO HYPE-UP THEIR NUMBERS AND GET BURNED BY NOT FOLLOWING THEIR ASSIGNMENTS.
