Bengalhead
I just dont understand why we never see him drinking fluids on the sideline during the game??? He should be drinking constantly. Maybe his pregame warmup is too long. Interesting point. As I think back, I don't remember ever seeing him drink on the sidelines as well. Doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't do it but you would think that the law of averages would dictate that we'd see him do that every once in a while. Stripes
He probably has his own McD's fountain soda machine in the locker room.
Bengalhead
He probably has his own McD's fountain soda machine in the locker room. Funny . More seriously though, I don't think that the McD's thing plays much of a factor in this. But there has to be something amiss with his conditioning or something. Heck, if they/he knows its going to happen, how about getting the IV right before the game starts? then keep yourself hydrated with fluids on the sidelines while the D is on the field. From my perspective, it really shouldn't be complicated.

Not to say he shouldn't be drinking anything, obviously, but if his body is prone to this I'm not sure that the few tiny cups of gatorade on the sideline will be enough to prevent anything (which is why they opt for the IV when possible). And you're right, you can't just chug gallons of water in a short period of time. But it's like I said before, there are a dozen other skill players on this team who run just as much as he does and yet do not require IVs seemingly every game. Bengalhead
Well, I was going to let this thread die but then i saw the Enquirer article on him today. Here's an excerpt:He definitely did not want to be asked whether his diet contributes to his almost routine leg cramps. . .Johnson's failure to be on the field for a long stretch Monday night made the Colts' task of defending the Bengals' pass offense much easier.Johnson had a 10-yard reception with 12:05 left in the third quarter of the Colts game. He missed the next two Bengals possessions.Cincinnati drove from its 21-yard line to the Colts 10 but had to settle for a Shayne Graham field goal with 13:11 left in the fourth quarter. Johnson was not on the field for that possession. This is bull crap. If the man is missing critical stretches of games because he's not hydrated enough, he should answer for it. Again, I don't know how much the McDonald's thing comes into play but he should certainly acknowledge that there is an issue somewhere. Come on Chad! You've got the mouth for it and you've stepped up in the past when you lost your bet to Deangelo Fall. Be a man and tell us what is going on here. Bengalhead
I remember him trying to do something about it in the past, but he cramped up anyway. Maybe he is just prone to cramping and there is no conspiracy to what is going on. Nah, it couldn't be that because then you guys wouldn't be able to bitch about it.This quote is from Carson Palmer: "I'm hard on Chris (Henry), and I told Chris that earlier this year," Carson Palmer said. "I pulled him aside and said I'm going to be a nit-picker, you're going to hate me. You're not going to like me because I expect greatness out of you because you have greatness in you."Sounds to me like he said the same things that I said in my post. Do you think he's "bitching" too?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Carson has more of a right to expect anything from anyone on that team than you do. Maybe I'm crazy...Plus, this is in reference to Chris Henry. I don't think you'd hear him say ANYTHING like that in regards to Chad and his hydration issues...
cinci_bengals
I agree completly but we can't accuse Chad for the whole loss

I'm sure he would say the same thing to Chad- why the heck wouldn't he?I don't follow why you think Carson has more of a right to expect excellence than a fan, other than the fact that Carson is on the team - which obviously is not a dispute here. As a fan, why is it wrong to expect excellence out of one's favorite team and object when one doesn't get excellence? I don't get it. Please explain. . . He works with him on a daily basis. He's in the trenches with the guy. If there's a problem, then he's the one that will know about it and have the right to call him on it. Right now, if Carson isn't questioning Chad's effort on the field, or the fact that he's not doing all he can to help the team succeed, then netiher am I. If Marvin goes out of his way to defend Chad and his work ethic, then that's good enough for me. Now, let's take an issue where I feel exactly the opposite. We have criticized Henry for taking plays off, and not giving a full effort. In this instance, I think we have every right to make those claims. Carson, while ultimtely sticking up for Henry, admitted that it has been an issue, and that is unacceptable in my eyes. Henry needs to grow up, and he needs to do it now. Those are excellent points and I do understand your point now. I still think that its perfectly acceptable to voice frustrations over poor performance/stupidity but I see where you are coming from here. I also agree with you on CH.
