jjakq27
To quote an old Styx song, "tonight's the night we make history...." Over the last four seasons, Marvin and Co. have improved all phases of the organization, the team and their image as a winner. The Bengals are now seen as one of the premier offensive units in the league. Pro Bowl players are the norm and team records are set every year. We are able to compete with old foes like the Ravens and Steelers and own a great record within the division. We have not had a losing record in Lewis' tenure. The list goes on and on. But tonight is the night to take the next step by beating the Colts. The Bengals are 0-4 against Peyton Manning. They also have a losing record against Tom Brady. Winning against these guys will prove that they truly are one of the elite in the NFL and could go a long way should they make the playoffs. If they win, it will be downplayed because this year's Colts aren't as good as last year's version. If they lose, then it will be more of the same negative talk about the outside issues, the defense and losing composure. The time is now guys. Time to get it done. rwalling
Couldn't have put it better myself. When the Pats came to town and we had a chance to prove we were a contender not a pretender and we failed miserably. We went to Baltimore and folded. This is a put up or shut up game for the Bengals.Without fear of overestimation, lose this game, then don't pretend to have Super Bowl aspirations. CBin2k7
The Bengals continue to lose these "statement games" when every one picks them to win. It's now time for another one against Denver. I expect the Broncos to be 5 point favorites, and the Bengals to relaly be up against it. jjakq27
We aren't there yet. I wonder if we are even close.
jjakq27
Not to be a wet blanket on everybody's good intentions but I have a feeling if we do make the dance, we may not get very far. This year we have played all four division leaders in the AFC. We have a 1-4 record by virtue of the Thursday night win against Baltimore. The four losses have all been difficult for a number of reasons. 10/01 Patriots L 38-13Unable to stop the Pats in the second half11/05 Ravens L 26-20Two early miscues sealed this one11/12 Chargers L 49-41Blew large 1st half lead and gave up 42 points in the 2nd11/13 Ravens W 13-7Played well in Thursday nighter12/16 Colts L 34-16No answers on both sides of the ballIn the NFC we beat the 1st place Saints at their place but lost to Wild Card contender Atlanta at home. This weekend we will see how they measure up against the Broncos who are perched atop the wild card pile in the AFC. I am having a hard time believing in this team right now. Unfortunately Marvin Lewis has a 0.500 record in December during his tenure and so far things are par for the course. If they split the next two I really think they are not worthy to make the playoffs in spite of their recent success since the San Diego game.
