I grew up listening to an old transistor radio as Joe Nuxhall broadcasted the game. His delivery of the events on the field were a pure pleasure to hear as I drifted off to sleep. He so deserves this!

Loved listening to them on those late nights from the west coast....heaven....

Does anyone know if both members of a long-term broadcast team are in the Hall together? Would Marty and Joe be the first? Probably not, but I thought I would ask....

Good point. IMHO the best broadcasting team ever! And I too loved listening to the Reds/Dodgers games, then an NL West rivalry, with Sparky Anderson's and Tommy Lasorda's brilliant coaching battling it out with each other. Ahhh...some really great days those were! :)

Marty and Joe on the radio were baseball to me growing up. They broadcasts are not the same without Joe there. What great memories, I can still remember Joe calling a HR by Mario Soto, he made it sound so real and enjoyable for everyone.

He deserves this award, I was amazed that Marty got in before him. Not that Marty did not deserve it, but for me Joe was who made listening fun.

What he said...

I will always remember Joe calling Johnny Bench's last home run on "Johnny Bench Day" in Cincinnati....

Timeless.....
