The whisper in town (also reported on the radio) is that the Rooney's are privately asking Cowher to communicate his plan to them ASAP (albeit private). What they are saying is that the Rooney's want to be able to ensure they can lock-up someone from in-house before they 'get away' should he delay his decision to leave. Obviously, the in-house candidates are Whisenhunt, Grimm, and LeBeau.

I expect we will hear much more about this in the coming week or two.

I vote for LeBeau.

B) If he does the same thing for the stealers that he did for us .... we won't have to worry about them for years.

Dick LeBaeu may not have been a great coach for the Bengals, but he did

draft Justin Smith, Chad Johnson, Rudi Johnson, TJ, and Levi Jones. He did

have pretty good eye for talent. If Chuck B. would leave, I would like to see

Mr. LeBeau come back as a DC.

He also found this gym teacher from South Dakota named Kevin Kaesviharn.

I think Marvin asked him to stay on as DC when the change took place. I don't remember the details but I think he went to Buffalo in 2003. I wouldn't have problem with LeBeau coming back here as DC. I doubt that Pittsburgh would hire him as HC though. They've had two coaches in 37 seasons. I think he would be a little too old for that kind of longevity. Maybe Whisenhunt.

I heard a clip by Jay Glazer on the FOX FB show this evening where some Steeler insiders say that every since the contract squabble has come up, Cowher seems to lack the passion and fire that he had in the past.

You gotta love (or hate) the media. Everyone in Pittsburgh has been complaining about Cowher's "lack of passion" this year, and Jay Glazer just NOW reports it? And it's funny, because the only reason people get that idea is because they only show Cowher on TV now when he's acting calm. It's been a common subject on local sports shows, and the local reporters keep saying that he actually DOES still chew people out, it's just that they never show it on TV for some reason.

Anyway, I also heard that there are some rumors among the local sports writers that it's becoming more and more likely that Cowher will stay. One guy said he used to think it was a sure thing that Cowher was going to retire, and now, from what he's hearing, he thinks Bill will stick around a bit longer.

IMHO Bill Cowher ain't going anywhere. He's undeniably a great coach and still has too much passion for the game. You have to admire that in any person, no matter what team he presides over. B)

I can't see him going anywhere either. Not for a few more years anyway. He doesn't strike me as the type to move around (see, Bill Parcells) every few years. Especially with him being from Pittsburgh.

A lot of people around here now hate Rick Pitino since he went to Louisville even though he had a major stop between UK and UofL (the Celtics) and was highly successful while at UK.

I can't imagine the flack Cowher would take if he quit and came back to the NFL a year or two later.

They'd still love Bill's ugly butt when he came back to Pittsburgh to play with his new team. Didn't they have sort of a lovefest for Jim Leyland when he returned with the Marlins to play the Pirates?

Alot of people in Pittsburgh hate Leyland and feel he abandoned the Pirates. Most people though respect him as a manager and understand that it was the ownership that betrayed him by breaking up the team, not the other way around.

If Cowher retired and then came back as a coach of a different team, I'm not sure what the response would be.
