semiotter
Man the CUBS are working hard on the free agents with the signing of SORIANO, and some of their players that were free agents....Looks like its going to be a great year to be a CUBS fan...plus I see where LaRue has been dealt to KANSAS CITY (SWEET) glad to see him go......... rwalling
With Soriano and Ramirez locked up, I think we can guarantee the Cubs will suck for years to come. There are not two better players in MLB for racking up HUGE numbers once the games are irrelevant! (Better than even DUNN!)
MacD BengalFan
It is just to bad the Cuddies will continue to be the loveable losers they always have been. When they blew up the Bartman Baseball a couple of years ago, the Baseball VooDoo Gods cast a curse on the franchise that will prevent them from ever winning again. Enjoy the losing. Stripes
Whenever they give up on Prior and Wood and get some young talent to replace them... they'll be one of the best teams in baseball.
crttylr
Whenever they give up on Prior and Wood and get some young talent to replace them... they'll be one of the best teams in baseball. The Cubs still wont be s**t with Soriano and Ramirez, they dont have any pitching, they should have been trying to get pitching instead of blowing 136 million on a 31 year old hitter, they had a decent lineup last year, just no pitching!!!! Hence the 2 8 homerun games against the braves and Tigers!!!!! The Cubs are a joke and will be until they get some pitching and dump Prior and Wood on another sucker!!!! Dawg BpG
You guys are delusional.Aramis, Lee, and Soriano is THE BEST. 1,2,3 combo in the NL.They will score tons of runs, and they will win games. In your terrible division where 85 wins, will get you to the dance. The cubs are playoff contenders. Even without Wood (who's career is over) and the oft injured stud Prior. Dawg BpG
No, I didn't say rings. They still have tons of question marks...pitching, bullpen, closers. (you know, the things that win championships)In this division, and being in the NL, you can win 85 games in your sleep (see the St. Louis Cardinals last year), make the playoffs, and have a chance. THE NL IS WEAK!
MacD BengalFan
Not only did a 85 win team from our weak division make the playoffs, they won the World Series. You seem to forget that one very important fact. But the Cubs will never win because they blew up the Bartman Ball and the curse from the Baseball VooDoo Godz will rein supreme over the lowley franchise for all eternity. If they had accepted the fact that Steve Bartman did not cause the Cubs to lose the series and that the PLAYERS did and had not blown up the Bartman Ball, then maybe they might have a chance. The Cubs are losers and always will be.
Stripes
I agree with him. The NL is a joke, and the NL Central is a primary cause for such. Things can change a lot over one year, but last year it was arguably the worst division in the majors.

Dawg BpG
Cubbies added Jason Marquis to their staff. I am taking it, that this is for depth, for WHEN, not IF Kerry Wood and Mark Prior go down.I mean think about this, IF, HUGE, GIGANTIC IF, the cubs stay healthy.ZambranoPriorWood (LOL, will never start again)Rich Hill ( the new right handed Barry Zito, that curve of his is N-A-S-T-Y)Jason MarquisWade Miller (hurt every single year since he left houston)If they can keep four, just four, of those guys healthy all season. Yes, the NL is very weak.Whatever dude, thats why the Cards took the Tigers out in 5, when no one in the World gave them a chance to win the world series, and actually it should have been a sweep if Kenny Rogers wasnt playing with s**t on his hand!!! If the umpires had pulled their heads out of their asses and ejected him when it was first noticed, so who is weak, that the AL has to resort to cheating to win. Rulebook states no substances other than rosin on the hands is allowed. Sorry cheating to me is weak!!!!!!!
Stripes
Yes, the Cardinals did win the World Series, but that does not make the NL stronger than the AL. If the Seahawks went out and surprised everyone by winning the Superbowl this year, that wouldn't make the NFC a stronger conference than the AFC. That's not how it works. Dawg BpG
CHICAGO -- Cliff Floyd and the Chicago Cubs are nearing agreement on a one-year contract, a deal that may include an option for 2008 that the outfielder can control.FloydFloyd, who was born in Chicago, is likely to make a decision this week. Several AL West teams and Pittsburgh also have shown interest in the 34-year-old left-handed hitter -- Pirates manager Jim Tracy managed Floyd at Double-A.Limited to 332 at-bats last year with the New York Mets because of an injured Achilles tendon, Floyd likely would be a backup with Chicago. Alfonso Soriano probably will wind up in center, with Matt Murton in left and Jacque Jones in right.Floyd hit .244 with 11 homers and 44 RBIs last season, and had surgery on his left foot in October. New York replaced him in left with Moises Alou, a free agent who agreed to a contract in October. An All-Star in 2001 with Florida, Floyd hit .273 with 34 homers and 98 RBIs for the Mets in 2005.His talks with the Cubs were reported Sunday by the Chicago Sun-TimesMy WebpageCubbies keep adding....quiet on the Reds front...
