derekshank
It seems like we've played our best football on the road this season. We had a good win at home against the Panthers... but the Cleveland victory was... well Cleveland. We got killed by N.E., and we lost to the Falcons.Meanwhile, we beat KC soundly (which, by the way, is their only home loss this season), we won at Pittsburgh, and while we lost to Tampa... I continue to claim we won that game. It's almost like the Steelers last season. They just played better on the road, going 9-2 (if you count the playoffs), while going only 5-3 at home.Baltimore is going to be a tough game, but I think the team knows we need it. If we go there and win this game, it'll be time to recognise this team as road warriors.
Stripes
The Bengals do seem to play better on the road, and especially better when they're favored to lose. They thrive on the cheesy "we're gonna prove the doubters wrong" thing, but then struggle when the doubters aren't doubting anymore.
Kazkal
Wasen't it the same way last year? playing our best football on the road =/ I remember everyone wanting be a lower seed just that way we have away field advantage lol. BengalByTheBay
I think this stretches at least into last season. The home field "advantage" is not so much for the Bengals for some reason. I guess the bright side is that playing well on the road is a pretty good characteristic for a team to have. Maybe it is the "us against the world" motivation or something. I tend to think it's because we play better when there's less pressure and the players are a little looser. Why can't they get up for the home crowd? Or, can it be they try TOO hard? I have yet to see them beat the Steelers at home, that being the last three years. Maybe this year? I hope. Also, what I can't understand for the life of me, why do they have these False Start penalties so much at home? Sunday, they had at least three that I remember. The crowd quiets down for them, so you would think they would have enough discipline to stay put.
Stripes
I'd say the crowd is a factor, at least on defense. I hate to say it, but they don't seem to maintain the energy through all four quarters. PBS sounds great the first half, and then out of gas the second. I can tell on TV too. bengal4life
The PB crowd definetily losses excitement when the D can't stop anyone on 3rd downs. On the other hand if a great play is made on D then the cheers are right back in the game.
Kazkal
From what I heard crowd dies out preatty easy....Sure if team is 21-28 pts behind o_O but when its still a 1 score game and crowd is out of it thats kinda messed up. I can't speak for everyone but I just got my voice back from Sunday. The crowd did cause a couple of false starts one of them being on the last drive of the ratbirds even though that didn't matter. IMO some fans at the game still think this is the team of old and if we get caught behind we're out of the game making them lose interest.
