schnarfer
teams have been abusing him all season. Tory is a weakness, so why not Joseph(our future starter sooner or later) the nod. At this point it can only be an improvement.
agreen_112
I think the coaching staff realized this by the 4th quarter, b/c Joseph was the #2 corner by the end of the game.
coupdayta
No kidding man. He fell down early in the game and gave up a huge 20+ yard gain to whoever he was covering (Roddy White I think) and then he fell down again to give up a Jenkins TD. I liked Tory a lot and will always be grateful for how he helped out when the Bengals were rebuilding, but enough is enough. He is old and has lost his step. He could probably still be a valuable nickelback with the right match up, but there's no way he should be starting. He looks awful.
derekshank
Me and my friends that I watch the games with have a joke anytime the Bengals give up a big passing play. When they go to the replay, we always look for where Tory James fell down. Seems like he does it fairly regularly. He's still got skill, he's still got talent... and for the most part he does a decent job of covering receivers... but he can't stay on his damn feet. jjakq27
This started last season. I recall that he got abused a few times in the Indy game last year. He never plays tight at the line of scrimmage and seems to concede 8 -10 yard gains everytime they throw to his side.He reminds me of Kevin Hardy in his last days here. You've seen better days my friend.
CBin2k7
My main problem with Tory is that not only does he give up back breaking receptions at times, he compounds it by his lack of tackling. You honestly have to get someone out there who wants to tackle, Tory James does not want to tackle.
bengalboomer7
I thought about this a lot before I posed in this thread. Sunday against the falcons wasn't Tory's fault. Yes, he did get burnt once, but I don't blame the TD on Tory. A corner can only gaurd a guy for so long, then he's gonna get open. If you give a guy 6, 7, or more seconds to throw the ball he's gonna find a guy. The "mush rush" that was talked about didn't work, and Vick had all say to find an open reciever, and all too fruquently, he did
Stripes
Tory had pretty good coverage on some of the plays he gave up, like the long pass to Lelie early in the game. He fell down multiple times though, like Shank said. I'm not sure why he'd do that so frequently.I'm with boomer, though... Deltha and JJ both were abused their own fair amount yesterday because Vick was given too much time to find open receivers.
BULLDOGG
James needs to be replaced. My question is, what's wrong with Keiwan Ratliff. He had played well since he's got here and has shown a nose for the ball. He's also a pretty decent tackler and although his speed is questionable, he's at least as fast as James (and the way we're playing so much zone this year, it really doesn't matter how fast he is). He was undoubtedly the teams best cornerback in the preseason and I can say as a regular training camp practice attendee, during the camps, too. He's hasn't had much time on the field this year. Joseph will be a stud and the best defensive 1st round pick in 15 years or more, when it's all said and done. No Bengals fan can say he's played like a typical rookie CB. I would also like to see Greg Brooks get a shot in the Nickel or Dime. James, at this point in his career, is killing the defense with the big play. The Jenkins touchdown was a backbreaker. It's time to make a move to a lineup of O'Neal and Joseph and Ratliff the Nickel. At least his 5 million comes off the cap this year. agreen_112
We're not seeing Ratliff b/c he sucks! Period. Nickel is just as important as CB, but they don't get as much PT. Ratliff has shown us what he can do at Corner when Deltha was hurt and he's shown us what he can do at nickel. Tory can cover WR's in this league, but maybe we put JJ at that spot and then bring in Tory in the Nickel package but move JJ to guard the slot reciever so that JJ is alway in the game and Tory still gets work at Corner in certain situations. You have to be fast to play the nickel position and Tory or Ratliff can't hack it there. WE need JJ at that spot in 3 WR situations.
