Jet23
How long are they going to continue to throw money at the OL, and burn top 10 picks, because Alexander can't coach his way out of a wet paper bag? Why is this reject from the dark ages still around? Injuries to OL happen every day to every line. Good (he!! even average) coaches make the necessary adjustments. But not here. In Cincinnati, when the least paid lineman goes down, all heck breaks loose.According to some, due to KC defections, the Bengals had the best line in football. How to you go from that to this pile of dung after losing only Braham? Mike & Katie throw a pile of money at the line, yet the two most valuable components remain unsigned. Now we can look forward to burning a first rounder on a center. Hopefully he is already 'coached up' in college, because he won't be learning anything here! This affects the entire team. Guess what? Now we have no choice but to sign Steinbach. You certainly aren't going to bet on Alexander developing anyone are you? Now there is less money to build a defense. ALEXANDER MUST GO NOW! He is killing this team.end of rant...
schweinhart
Maybe they're better off w/o Alexander but he can't be held responsible for not extending Steinbach, which should have been done before the Hutchison signing. And Ghiaucic? He's a 4th rounder and for all the bashing of him, he's not any more of a problem than Larry Moore was. Maybe he's not the center of the future but I don't see where this should compel the Bengals to burn a 1st rounder on a center, even though I think the mocks are going to start forecasting this with Kyle Young. Either sign a free agent in the offseason to compete for the position, draft another 4th rounder to do the same or franchise Steinbach at Top 5 of O-line pay and bank on him as center for next year too. bengalskyspy
This is simple. The O-line is over-rated. Never got much consistency last year. The big numbers put up by the running game is a testament to an awesome QB and WR corps. Rudi got his yards when the game was over. When we really need them, they choke. Kinda like the Adam Dunn of OL's.

Kinda like the Adam Dunn of OL's.The reason they are over-rated is because 2 of them were top 10 draft picks in the entire NFL. Steinbach should have been a middle 1st round guy, but fell in their laps at 2nd. We had to burn a 2nd on Whitworth, and the other two guys (Braham & Williams) were FA signees. Can somebody please name me one Paul Alexander success story? One, I just want one. Why do I get the feeling that Stacy Andrews could be a pro-bowler with a real coach? WHY IS THIS GUY STILL EMPLOYED????????Maybe this just isn't his 'Dream Line' like the one that set a record for the most sacks allowed in one season. This guy has NO CLUE!
