schweinhart
Its real simple. Put your best players on the field. Whos bettter, steiny or guycheck? Whos better woolworth's or guycheck? It all boils down to that if there's no drop between Steiny and Bluto at center. Just like on the defensive side with Joseph, it's hard to keep a player as punishing as Whitworth off the O-line.Moving Steiny to center would be more than just interesting in the short term. If Steiny can play well there week in and week out, the Bengals may have found their center of the future. Of course it would cost them Top 5 coin but that would look like quite a bargain for a center who can also play at a high level at LG and LT whenever needed. TJJackson
I remain in favor of moving Steinbach to Center ONLY if they sign him to a long term extension NOW. Otherwise, you go back to the growing pains at Center next year, and are ultimately slowing the development of your long-term center, be it Ghiaciuc or someone else.Wilkerson isn't even in the running as an answer until his knee fully heals, and after all this time it is looking (unfortunately) like it never will
schweinhart
Not sure how urgent it is to extend Steinbach now to avoid what you describe. He can be tagged next year and the Bengals may not be able to extend him this year in any event cap wise. Then the Bengals would still be sitting with Bluto as backup.Bluto may develop yet but either way they ought to draft a center in Day 2 to have at the ready in the event they don't think Wilkerson can develop into what they want. HoTbOy
I am all for EGhiaciuc learning the position, but not right now...blitzing up the middle has increased since RBraham went out, and I am all for letting ESteinbach take over...if CPalmer gets hurt because of blitz up the middle, EGhiacuic may have to leave town...but everything is NOT his fault...TJames, OThurman, CHenry, DPollack, KK have nothing to do with EGhiacuic, some SUCK, some are INJURED, and some are STUPID, those are some of the reasons we are having problems as a team... JaxonFord87
Unless we are planning on drafting a new center next year, i don't think that this is the greatest move at this point.

The time to win is now. Let's worry about next year next year. Who knows, if Richie survives his treatment from the Bengal medical staff, he may even be back. I also haven't given up on Bluto. Another training camp could do wonders. It will also help that Whitworth has almost a complete year of starting under his belt.
TJJackson
I haven't given up on Bluto (Ghiaciuc for those not familiar with the this-messgaeboard-only nickname) either - just want to win NOW. But I don't want all those snaps wasted on a fellow who is not expected to return either....
