Real concern

Hi guys, it's difficult to me speaks about Bengals because I live in Italy and can't watch football games on tv (apart Sunday & Monday nights). In my opinion actually the problem is the offense because we know the D is average at best but the Oline has to play better and protect Carson or else can be difficult to score a lot of points as in 2005. In an ideal scenario the offense carries the load and the defense makes plays playing with a lead. If forced to play from behind the D is awful and the O isn't still clicking.

I hope my English is understandable

You are exactly right. Our defense is trying to become a top 10 unit but they are more like a 15 to 25 unit. Our offense needs to put up points and get a lead early. If the Oline doesn't play well, then the defense can be taking advantage of since the offense will not score as many points.

The lack of points also means closer games, which in turn means teams don't abandon the run against the Bengals. When we force them to pass and play catch-up, we force them to play to the strength of our D. When we allow them to hang around and pound away on the ground, we end up with debacles like Sundays.

In other words, our best run defense is a high-scoring offense.

Hey, welcome, great to have some fans overseas. If you don't mind my asking, how'd you become a fan of American football, and the Bengals in particular?

I'm happy the Bengals are 3-1 heading into the bye week. That being said, here are some of my concerns.

1. Bengals still can't stop the run. I'm tired of seeing 5 to 6 men on the line of scrimmage. The 4-3 over and 4-3 under does not work! Once the Hb gets past that first line of defenders, there is noobody there to fill the gaps. It seems like everone overpursues and no one stays in thier lane. Gardner, Sapp, Simon, Adams, it doesn't matter. For some reason we just can't stop the run and that is what pisses me off the most. The run defense the last two games is unacceptable. If this continues we won't go very far.

2. We get no pressure on the QB.

3. What happened to Palmer's pocket awareness? He's starting to look like Kurt Warner.

4. Where ya at 85?

5. The O-line needs to do a better job. If they can't protect, then put Carson in the shotgun more.

6. It's time for James to accept the natural progression of all good corners who have lost a step, and switch to safety, and let Joseph start.

7. If we can't stop the run, then it is imperative for Brad Brakoskwi to release the hounds. We have to jump on teams early so they are forced to abandone the run and then seal the deal with Rudi.

8. Are linebacking core is a wreck. The Thurman suspension really bummed me out. He had only one more game .........damn. When I heard about the DUI, my heart sunk similar to when Carson got hurt, because I was really looking forward to seeing Thurman play this year. Jeanty, Pollack, Nicholson are hurt. Miller is soft. I think they need to throw Brooks into the fire and see what happens, because Caleb is a scrub.

In the 80's I watched football on tv and Bengals were very good also their helmets were (and are) beatiful so I chose them as the team to root for.

After Kansas City game Dline took a back step, anyway we are 3-1 so it isn't so bad!!

Very cool !!! Welcome to the board !!!

 Wait, you are from Italy... Should it be one of these ??

:wine:

WHODEY !!!

Yes Whodey in Italy we prefer wine than beer!!

Last year I was at PBS for Bengals-Texans game and a lot of people ask me why I root for Cincinnati. The stadium was spectacular and fans were great. I hope to attend a Bengals game again because football is very funny to watch.

Well, rock on...

Again, welcome to the board !!!

WHODEY !!!

Thanks Italy! and some people make fun of our uniforms? I happen to think they are the most unique in the NFL and represent our mascot/name well.................but, then again, I guess a yellow stripe down your helmet says something different.

lol welcome man! I think you are the first person I've heard say that the helmets were beautiful. Me and my buddies use to have a running joke calling ugly girls with hot bodies (a.k.a. butterfaces) Bengals: Nice uniforms, ugly helmet.

I also started liking them in the 80's (i was born in 1980)..great decade to start watching them!
