schnarfer
Our offenseive line is proven and obviously is missing Brahm, but after they get time to get and recognize fronts, they will be fine. The have had a ton of mental mistakes. Most our sacks come off a free blitzer up the middle. That should never happen and if it does it is a mental mistake. Marvin will emphasize the mental edge and they will carson plenty of time to throw to the most talented backfield in football. Chris Perry will provide a change of pace back that we have lacked and give us a breakaway every time he touches the ball. Have no fear. The O will never go away, it was just contained. walshfan
Ill agree with you for now... Guycheck is getting his feet wet quickly.I think he'll improve but how much remains to be seen....I like the idea tht he went up agasint two of the better masterminds of defensive schemes so early in Lebeau and Belichick... that was a crash course for the kid.. ArmyBengal
You can go either way with this... You can say, they will correct it and they are still very good (which is true) or you can say, they are to good to be accepting this poor level of play (which is true). Put both of those together and you are probably about there with these guys !!!WHODEY !!!
walzav29
The question is if Steinbach would be an upgrade or would the transistion process take more time since it's a position switch compared to Ghiaciuc being a natural center. Jonboat
The o-line play so far to me has been the biggest disappointment since this is the area where we should've been the strongest at & also seemed to have alot of depth, the way they've played since Braham been out Carson isn't going to make it through the season.I think it's a bit too early to tell with Guycheck, as already been mentioned he faced 2 very good D- lines & pitts has probably the most complicated D in the league, a tall order for a backup , maybe give him 1-2 more games to see if he improves. While Stienbach may be able to play C I just don't like moving guy's around & then having a Rookie protecting Palmers blindside. How about Wilkerson is he healthy? In fairness to Guycheck he's not the only one getting beat the whole offensive line has been manhandled!!
TJJackson
Bottom line for me is that Ghiaciuc is the heir apparent despite the problems the past few weeks, and he NEEDS these in-game snaps. Meanwhile, Steinbach is all but certain to be gone in 2007.....so develop the guy you need next year, rather than use Steinbach in as a one-year band-aid.Take the lumps now....and that said, here's the alternate take......Find a way to sign Steinbach to a long term contract. NOW, not next week or next year. Use Odell's money, suspend Chris Henry a few games and use some of that cash, waive Bryan Robinson, whatever it takes to free up the dollars to make it happen. With Steinbach secured, make him your FULL TIME STARTER at Center, and Ghiaciuc and/or Wilkerson his backup. Move any of Whitworth, Andrews, or Kooistra in as the new everyday starting LG.. Probably Whitworth. Done. You have a potent offensive line again, and the line is secure through this year and next.
ArmyBengal
I'm still loving all the talk of Steinbach at center !!!WHODEY !!!
TJJackson
np Army, but please understand my take - don't use him at center UNLESS you PLAN to have him here in 2008 and beyond. Dont bandaid this position.
ArmyBengal
Oh TJ, I get what you are saying LOUD and CLEAR... I just still thinking the whole conversation is funny...WHODEY !!!
TJJackson
How so? He's had legit starts at Center and is known to be extremely intelligent. His value at center may now (with the emergence of Whitworth) be far greater than at Center.....
ArmyBengal
Funny, because many times I brought up how much I would love to see him take that position outright with Whitwirth in the fold and everyone immediately dismissed it and here we are (much later) still discussing it.That kind of funny !!!WHODEY !!!
