What To Expect?

Hi folks! Great day all around. Just found out my wife came through on my Christmas wish for this year. Four tickets to the Bengals/Steelers game at PBS this December. I have a few questions I hope ya'll can help me with.

What can I expect from Bengal fans in the tailgating areas before the game? I'm wanting to share this day with my wife and kids and am wondering if I should expect any problems because of team affiliation. I try to make at least one away game per year and overall have had positive experiences (minus an episode in Buffalo). Should I expect the same in Cinci?

Also for anyone familiar with section 345 at PBS, what kind of seats are they? I checked out the seating chart online and the section looks to be"nosebleed". Not that it matters much. I'm just feeling pretty fortunate considering the call for ticket holders not to sell to the oppositions fans.

Also, I've heard alot about the Chili out your way. Any suggestions on where to get my fill or would it be best to make it part of the game experience at PBS?

My family and I will be making sort of a mini vacation out of this trip. We will be there from Friday until Tuesday. Any suggestions on family outings in the area would be greatly appreciated.

Here's hoping the game will mean something and Good Luck on a successfull season!!

Thanks,

JTS what row are your seats in? I sat right beside that section last year in December on one of the upper rows, and let me tell ya, it was cold as hell. I sit in the endzone now-a-days, but lord that wind coming off the river will freeze your asses!

As far as trouble, you'll get heckled a little, but nothing to terribly bad. Plus, by the time you boys come to town, we'll be resting our starters anyways!! ;) Watch out though, like anywhere you'll get a few F- Bombs dropped pretty routinely, especially playing against your beloved team.

I'm not real sure. The tickets will be arriving sometime next week although my wife did write down row and seat numbers. She'll be home later on to ask. I'm not too concerned about the wind/weather, we're pretty use to that out this way. Thanks for the response!

An early "Welcome to our fair city". It's difficult to answer your questions, 'cause we don't know the age of your little squeeler-fans. There is a great family area for tailgating in both Lots B & C (just east of the stadium near the river), with alot of exotic cookouts and table fare. Those lots need to be purchased ahead of time, and are normally occupied by season ticket holders. The beer and pretzel rowdies get downtown well before kick-off, and generally congregate in the lots west of PBS - especially Longworth's Hall parking lot. There are also nice areas used by families across the river in Covington, Kentucky, but it's an EXTREMELY tough hike across the bridge if it's really cold and the wind is howling.

The most famous chili parlor is "Skyline Chili" - there are franchises all over town, including a couple downtown. For entertainment, the "festival of lights" at the Cincinnati Zoo and "Winterfest" at Kings Island amusement park offer family winter fun, including ice skating.

Keep in mind, if this is a meaningful game to both teams, ABC has the ability to move it to an 8:00 pm start time - making it later and rowdier!

Good Luck! Have Fun! Lose Well! B)

I'm a Gold Star Chili man, myself. In fact, I'm sitting here right now wearing my Bengals shirt brought to you by none other than Gold Star Chili. Man, what I wouldn't do for a 3-way and 4 cheese coneys right now!!!

(thanks for making me hungry)

You could also check out the aquarium over at Newport on the levee. If your kids are younger they will like it. If they are older probably not so much, but there is shopping and places to eat. Pretty nice area.

I'll echo the aquarium ... my kids absolutely loved it. One of the best in the country.

If your kids loved newport aquarium then you must take them to Gatlinburg to view theirs.

Don't fall into skyline's trap, GoldStar is where the chili's at (It's the official chili of the Bengals too). As far as entertainment, I'd say Newport on the Levee is going to be your best bet. There is soo much to do over there, it's right across the river from downtown cincinnati. You can visit the aqaurium, or a huge arcade, state of the art movie theatre, If you have a little girl she can build-a-bear, and the Food is out of this world. They've got a sushi/asain resturaunt, pizza joint, seafood, italian, burger joint....... I don't know if your a trill seaker or not but you can also climb what we call the purple people bridge which expands over the river.

It is on New Years Eve so I would imagine that the vast majority of the crowd will be wasted, so I would prepare to take some abuse.... that's my opinion, most kids will give you a hard time.
