I have a theory

OK, anyone who watched the game on Monday 9/25/06 in which the Saints beat the Falcons 23-3 could tell that Atlanta threw the game (lost on purpose). I'm not just saying this because I am a Falcons fan. Think about it. If the Saints lose, then the whole purpose of the game is ruined. The fans go home angry and/or sad, and then riots ensue. It's not that I hate the city of New Orleans or that I'm bitter about losing. It's just that the evidence points to the game being thrown. Consider this:

1. Alge Crumpler, one of the most reliable tight ends in the game (ask any fantasy player; they know he's money) drops at least two sure TD passes that hit him in the hands.

2. The first punt of the game was blocked when a hole the width of montana opened up right in the middle of the offensive line. A field goal was later blocked, but that play was believable.

3. Mike Vick looked lost all night, and the Falcons offense sputtered after dominating Carolina and Tampa Bay, two teams that are debatably better than the Saints. On more than one occasion, Mr. Vick made mistakes on third down that even Doug Johnson would not make.

4. The Falcons D, which had given up just 9 pts in two games, gives up 23. Also, on nearly every Saints passing play, the defensive backs seemed to give the receivers a 10 yd cushion and allow them to escape out of bounds untouched if possible.

5. A large amount of terrible penalty calls. This is normal in the NFL, but this game was ridiculous. There was a questionable roughing the passer penalty, multuous holding calls, etc. Also, the saints got away with holding a lot.

6. On one particular play, Michael Jenkins appeared to be about to catch a TD pass. He dropped it after the ball hit him in the hands. Then, an offensive P.I. flag was thrown even though the DB was clearly acting. The flag seemed to have been thrown just in case the ball was caught.

7. Finally, the commentators continually said things like, "You couldn't have scripted it better than this." The entire TV production gave the impression that the entire world was on the saints' side. If anyone said otherwise, then they don't care about the city of New Orleans.

So, the league needs the Saints to win. Or maybe ESPN needed the Saints to win. Either way, the Falcons are instructed to throw the game but keep quiet and give the impression that they're trying to win (Vick signaling TD on an incomplete pass). The Falcons are paid a large sum, or are given an extra primetime game next year, etc.

Tell me what you think. If you think this is a load of crap, well say that too.

I believe it! Just like I believe they let the Steelers win the SB in Detroit. It was the best thing for the NFL to let Jerome Bettis win the SB in his hometown...

Preposterous theory!

If true and found out ...would devastate the game and it's integrity!

OK! The Super Bowl helped to do that but this would be outlandish and totally devastating.
