Dadraftnick Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 The Sagarin rankings have the Bengals at #2 behind only the Colts.If you take into account the number of injuries that the Bengals have and their schedule,the Bengals should be #1 but, Ill settle for #2 until we beat the Colts.____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________NFL 2006 thru games of September 24 Sunday _ week #3HOME ADVANTAGE= 3.10 RATING W L T SCHEDL(RANK) VS top 10 | VS top 16 | ELO_CHESS | PURE POINTS 1 Indianapolis Colts = 29.48 3 0 0 17.63( 26) 1 0 0 | 2 0 0 | 32.68 1 | 27.76 3 2 Cincinnati Bengals = 28.22 3 0 0 20.54( 15) 0 0 0 | 1 0 0 | 27.22 3 | 29.39 2 3 San Diego Chargers = 26.94 2 0 0 12.46( 32) 0 0 0 | 0 0 0 | 24.41 8 | 32.74 1 4 Chicago Bears = 26.37 3 0 0 16.64( 28) 0 0 0 | 1 0 0 | 27.48 2 | 25.35 5 5 Atlanta Falcons = 25.36 2 0 0 18.14( 21) 0 0 0 | 0 0 0 | 24.32 9 | 26.46 4 6 Jacksonville Jaguars = 25.01 2 1 0 23.59( 5) 0 1 0 | 2 1 0 | 25.10 7 | 24.82 7 7 Baltimore Ravens = 24.59 3 0 0 15.86( 29) 0 0 0 | 0 0 0 | 24.02 10 | 25.08 6 8 New England Patriots = 24.31 2 1 0 20.32( 16) 0 1 0 | 0 1 0 | 25.65 6 | 23.06 10 9 Seattle Seahawks = 23.76 3 0 0 14.28( 31) 0 0 0 | 1 0 0 | 27.04 4 | 21.29 15 10 Denver Broncos = 23.17 2 1 0 22.31( 7) 1 0 0 | 1 0 0 | 25.85 5 | 20.94 16NFL 2006 thru games of September 24 Sunday Quote
Stripes Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 A good argument could be made for the Seahawks too after their win yesterday. Quote
derekshank Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 The best thing about the 3-0 start? 2 divisional wins and 2 road wins. We have 7 more home games to look forward to... along with our fair share of gimme road games (T.B., N.O., Cle). The Colts will be seen as the team to beat until they lose. They earned that by going 13-0 last season. It's not going to happen... but could you imagine the hype if the Bengals and Colts were both 13-0 when they met on that Monday night on mid-December? Quote
DesperateDerelict Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 I hate to be a stick in the mud, but . . . . .- our opponents are a combined 1 - 7- neither our offense nor our defense will be in the top 10 after week 3- the only top 3 statistical category we'll be in is (possibly) turnover differentialI foresee alot of pundits ranking us anywhere from 5th to 8th - behind Indy, Seattle, Atlanta, Chicago, Baltimore, and maybe even Philly. Tasher Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 My nerves are definitely beginning to calm down a bit. We are still in the midst of a huge stretch of football, a very very tough stretch to say the least.Getting guys back from injury and off the PUP will be a huge boost to this team in my opinion.Plus, as the offense gets its feet underneath them, this is going to be fearsome! jjakq27 Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 A good argument could be made for the Seahawks too after their win yesterday.I agree with your opinion. They looked pretty good in defeating the Giants yesterday even though they let it get close.I hate to be a stick in the mud, but . . . . .- our opponents are a combined 1 - 7- neither our offense nor our defense will be in the top 10 after week 3- the only top 3 statistical category we'll be in is (possibly) turnover differentialI foresee alot of pundits ranking us anywhere from 5th to 8th - behind Indy, Seattle, Atlanta, Chicago, Baltimore, and maybe even Philly.I know what you are getting at but you could make the same argument for the Ravens too. Look who they have played? The Buccaneers (0-3), the Raiders (0-2) and the Browns (0-3) haven't won a game between them.Unfortunately there are alot of bad teams in the league. And we used to be one of them. But we aren't anymore and we shouldn't make apologies for anything good that comes their way. Quote

Most teams we've beaten haven't gotten many opportunities to win many other games. I mean... look at the Colts. They have 2 quality victories over the Jags and the Giants... but their opponents records are a combined 3-6. That is about as good as it gets. No one's track record looks all that impressive right now. I'd say road wins against the Chiefs and Steelers is about as impressive as you can look in week 3... and the national media tends to agree. They are talking about the Bengals being the best team in the league. So, don't worry about being a stick in the mud... because most analysts just don't see it that way.P.S. We will be in the top 5 in points scored, as well as probably point differential. Isn't that really what it comes down to? Points? Quote

I poop on you. (Just playin') (ironically, the above example, has NOTHING to do with Odell Thurman. Neither he nor Henry were at said party). Quote

So consider that our opponents are 1-4 vs other teams, and that the Chiefs loss in that was to a very good team(Denver), the Steelers loss was to a very good team(Jags) and one of the Browns losses was to a very good team(Ravens) and the Browns almost won that game, and their other loss was to a team that hasn't lost yet(although it is still the Saints). Now you look at our opponents being 1-1 vs "lower quality opponents"(MIA, NOR) and 0-3 vs current top ten teams(DEN, JAX, BAL). Doesn't look like an impressive stat to dwell on from this perspective. Bottom line, Bengals are still 3-0. Quote
