schweinhart
Joseph no doubt needs to be on the field every defensive down and play man as much as possible. Seriously doubt James can pull off SS to free Madieu for more coverage and don't see any better alternative for this team than to put James at weakside corner with Joseph in the slot on 3 WR sets. No way James can play slot and even as bad as he can be at CB I don't see Keiwan or Greg Brooks offering more than James wide when they have to have a slot cover in the nickel and neither Keiwan nor Brooks compares to Joseph in the slot. Maybe K2 can do a better job than James wide in the nickel but jeez that's hardly what anyone would hope for.
The Brew Man
While I agree James is no the way out, that TD today on his side of the field was KKs fault. Tori was in a bump and run and KK was supposed to pick up the receiver and did not. Still, Tori is not impressing anyone this year....... Perhaps you're thinking it was a cover 2 due to the bump, but I assure you, Cincy's defense was in man to man. Kase was matched up on the inside receiver and Tory had man up on the outside w/Gabriel. He just got caught looking short and Gabriel burned him.I have to admit, I'm glad I'm not the only person who was screaming at my TV today about Tory. How does a starting cornerback get juked by Tom Brady and then outrun to the sidelines?
The Brew Man
BTG, I assure you, it was a cover 2 and KK was to blame. This does not excuse Mr. James for his piss poor play, but this case was one he was not to blame. Maybe you noticed KK getting chewed on the sidelines afterwards? Stripes
James was bad today, but at the same time still managed to play better than the rest of the defense. Who actually played well, really? Madieu? O'Neal? Joseph?
Kazkal
Who actually played well, really? Madieu? O'Neal? Joseph? He played better then the rest of the defense?hahahahaha O'neal when did you see him get burnt play after play after play same with joseph...when did yuo see them not even try make tackle and just fall to the ground? why do you think it seemed like every thing went on james side?even the one pushout he got after what 50 yards? was right there with james when he had to fly across from the other side of the field. James was down right horrible THERE IS NO WAY he was the best player out there ya alot of our players sucked but James was one of the ones who sucked the most his INT doesn't make up for him getting burnt over and over sense he got it well being burnt. ArmyBengal
How did Tory let Brady just run by him ?? What the hell kind of angle did he take on that one ?? Maybe I missed something (I'm open to that possiblity) but that looked like the most pathetic attempt at getting to a QB as I've ever seen...WHODEY !!! Stripes
You misunderstood my post, Kaz. I said (or meant) Tory played like s**t, but not anymore so than the rest of the defense EXCEPT for the three I listed... Justin Smith too.By no means am I defending Tory's play... I started this thread two weeks ago, after all.
Casey
Another week, another sorry-ass performance by Torry James. What is that, three out of four? He didn't totally embarrass himself in the KC game, so I'll give him that one. Hopefully after the Bye, we will be seeing more of JJ.Will that solve all of the problems on defense? No, but it's a damn good start.
Stripes
I want to see more of Peko too. Everytime he steps into the game, the line gets a little better push.

This does not excuse Mr. James for his piss poor play, but this case was one he was not to blame. Maybe you noticed KK getting chewed on the sidelines afterwards? No, I was too busy flinging things around my living room and acting like a raving lunatic to notice. I apologize if I was wrong; I assumed it had to be man-to-man, seeing as how Kase looked like he was manned up on the inside guy. I mean, why the f*ck would an NFL safety abandon his zone in a cover 2? Seriously…why? Now I'm even angrier than I was before. Damn it. ArmyBengal
Now I'm even angrier than I was before.Like I said yesterday... Most will come back today even MORE pissed off than yesterday. I'm in that boat !!! I can take the loss, but it's the way you lose that makes this one a bitter pill to swallow. I've just never seen such sh*t from this team. We shouldn't be losing games like this...WHODEY !!!

jjakq27
I get tired of being everybody's "jump start". The Pats have been horrible on offense and they smoked us. If they are not careful, Tampa Bay will beat them with a young QB at the helm in two weeks.I just want to hear the same outcry about Breshnehan as we hear about Bratkowski all the time. Or Les Frazier a couple of years ago.Is it the scheme? Is it his play calling? Or is our depth not what we thought it was. I know missing Pollack, Odell and Dexter can't be helping but it appears that nothing has really changed since last year.

Tasher
We are not the only ones discussing it...(or maybe it is because we are discussing it, not sure it matters)http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/art.../310020050/1066GOAT OF THE GAMEIn lieu of the “Shining Star,” one player stood out among the miserable showing Sunday by the Bengals. James, despite getting an interception on a tip, was beaten repeatedly on big plays. James is at the end of a fine career, and the defense would improve – especially when playing man-to-man pass defense – if Johnathan Joseph would start opposite Deltha O’Neal at cornerback.Harsh words...Tory was exposed and made several mistakes in Pissburgh, as well...Probably won't be long, maybe game after the bye it it is to be this year... jditty47
you guys are crazy. james' miss assignments only happened once. that one im betting was KK missing his assignment for having over the top coverage, not james' fault. he did miss a couple tackles, but u cant blame him for not having solid linebackers in front of him. james should still start. get over it. Watch the Colts game from last year. Watch the Browns game from two weeks ago on the long pass down the field. Watch the Steelers game from last week on the pass to Wilson (?) in the first half. I think they tried it once or twice more yesterday. He has given up some big plays and seems to either (1) gamble too much for the pick or (2) have lost a step. As I stated in a previous thread, he reminds me of Kevin Hardy a few years back.

Tory has been terrible all year long, and people were taking notice while we were winning games too. He's out of excuses. Madieu is back to support him in coverage, and he still gets routinely toasted. If Odell and Pollack were still playing right now, it'd be the same story. knomage
Tory needs to get a view of life from the 5th back spotEither it will inspire him for one last burst of top level playor notJJ will have his own weaknesses exposed as opposing coaches willpick him apart as a starter or not either way speed rules and Tory doesnt have the speedto recover from his mistakes
ArmyBengal
I think any CB suffers when there is no support from the saftey for them and it just so happens that with Tory and his lack of speed, it's worse. I think Tory would do much better with DJ and Madieu, but until that is the case, what more could it hurt to have JJ in there with his closing speed ??WHODEY !!!
