GapControl
At first I was a little dissapointed with Brats' playcalling, especially on the third and 1 situation. I didn't like the way he kept running rudi on those stretch plays to the outside either. By the middle of the third quarter I noticed that it was all part of the plan to wear down the defense, b/c when he started calling the runs between the tackles Rudi was pounding the ball. I really think that Brat had planned this for his run attack. The passing was good, even though we were missing Levi, Housh and then Braham. Brat your an offensive genuis, who is always overlooked and mostly hated b/c of the "dillon era" but has completely revamped himself... With the defensive mind of Marvin and the offensive mind of Brat' the Bengals are one of the best coached teams in the League. That is the best statement I have ever heard about Brats. I completely agree. I can't understand why the man doesn't get any love. What else do you want the offense to do on a football team? The Bengals are virtually unpredictable on the offensive attack... due to his shuffling of personal calls and play calls. End arounds, shovel passes, deep outs, halfback flares, sweeps, powers, wideout screens, etc. THE OFFENSE IS REWRITING THE BENGALS RECORDBOOKS FOLKS. agreen_112
Yes, let's protect brats and not lose him like we did Leboue (can't spell). This man deserves a raise if he hasn't already recieved one.Don't get me wrong though, I'd rather have Marv over Dick any day, but Dick as a defensive cord. is where he should've stayed the whole time. HoosierCat
I think the reason a lot of posters, including me, get itchy about Brat's playcalling is that he has a tendency to push the pass when he really doesn't need to. Look at the start of the third quarter. Rudi averaged more than 5 yards a pop in the first half, the team's up 17-3, and the clock is your friend. Yet Cincys first two drives feature just 2 runs total, both go nowhere, and each takes barely a minute off the clock. We gave the Browns the ball for something like 10 of the first 12 minutes of the quarter. Versus the Browns it turned out not to matter, but do that against a team with a real offense and you arent going to carry that17-3 lead into the 4th like we did. Moreover, starting with about 3 mins. left in the third Brat went back to a balanced attack, and guess what? The Bengals started moving the ball, chewing up time, and scoring points again.

They don't know whats coming at them when we are all over the place like that. You seen the Browns Defense after we scored those two touchdowns late in the game, they were completely blown away. Our offense is unorthodox in a sence, meaning that once something is established we completely change it up and confuse the hell out of a Deffense and the other teams coaches. Definitely not the method of your traditional Bengals... Maybe what we were once "used" to.
