rwalling
Reds fans need to come to the realization that Adam Dunn simply is not an elite offensive player. He will never be a clutch RBI guy (note the ratio of RBI to HR), even an average fielder, or someone the other team has to pitch around in the heart of an order (how many teams have pitched around Griffey et al. to get TO Dunn this year?)Add as many offensive studs from the NL as you want (e.g. Beltran, Berkman) to the comparison below, Dunn just doesn't produce the total bases, RBIs, or any other stat you want (e.g. Avg. w/ RISP) to make him worth elite money. Maybe worst of all, he disappears when the team needs them most (e.g. the last road trip) and his lazy defense hurts the teams chemistry and confidence. Think the Mets or Cards have those problems with Pujols or Beltran? My point is simply this: if Dunn is clearly a second tier offensive threat and a bottom tier fielder, is he really who you want to throw the big cash at and build this team around? I'm ready to trade him to an AL team and let him DH his heart out. Give me a comparable offensive outfielder who hustles and can catch the d@mn ball or another Arroyo/Harang type pitcher and we'll call it a deal. Stripes
I agree. I don't even think he is a 2nd tier offensive player. I'm not worried about the strikeouts, but his situational hitting is just abysmal.
skyline
He's a good offensive player. But I agree...not top tier.
ArmyBengal
The guy has much to be desired as an outfielder. His arm is not that great and his speed SUCKS. His strikeouts DO bother me, as he's either hitting it long or nothing at all. One of the few (if not only) things I give Dunn, is I love seeing him running some catcher the F*CK over coming in on a play at home !!! I say trade him to !!!WHODEY !!! CBin2k7
Yeah, I have never been a big fan of Adam Dunn. Just once can the Reds have a power hitter that can also hit near .300 and drive in clutch RBI's. The Reds OF is slow, besides Freel. Freel is not an everyday player. It's amazing with the gaping holes that the Reds have stayed in contention this long. This offseason the Reds need to find out what they want to do with Dunn and Griffey. ArmyBengal
Having to watch Dunn get up to bat with a chance to help out and seeing him strikeout BADLY is so VERY old I can't hardly stand it. Just make some f*cking contact for Christ's sake !!! I'm wanting to see Krivsky make big moves with this roster during the offseason !!!WHODEY !!! jditty47
his avg doesnt bother me - eric davis had a sub 300 avg for most or all the years he was a red and he was spectacular. its his situational hitting like someone said, its abysmal. hes great trade bait, dont know why hes still a red. Note: I am still in disbelief griffey is still a red too...not cuz of this year, im talking about the last few years....
ArmyBengal
Eric Davis could also steal the hell out of bases and Dunn is only good for running a motherf*cker over at homeplate... (I still love that)WHODEY !!!
jditty47
dunn has good speed in video games. i stole with him all the time
Stripes
I was browsing Reds statistics for the season, and noticed for the first time that Adam Dunn came one strikeout shy his career high... which happens to be the all time record in major leage baseball history. But at least he hit .234! Casey
I don't buy Dunn being an elite player at all either. As others have said it is all or nothing with him and way too many times it has been nothing, esp when they have really needed him. If he would have given them any type of production the last month of the season, esp on that west coast trip, they would be in the play offs right now. I think that road trip proved what he really is.The AL as a DH would be the perfect place for him.
crttylr
As an outsider (Cards Fan) I think that Adam Dunn needs to work on his swing, and not swing for the fences all the time, plus I dont think he makes the necessary adjustments during games, it just seems he goes up there wrecklessly swinging!!! He is a decent outfielder though!!! He should bring you guys some good young guns in the offseason if that is what Krivsky wants to do with him. The biggest thing about Dunn, is he reminds me of Sammy Sosa, he will come up with the big home run at the most unlikely times, granted he is not as clutch as my boy Albert, he has won 26 regular season games with his bat, and 2 so far in the postseason!!!! ArmyBengal
He is a decent outfielder though!!!Define decent... If by decent, you mean he blows monkey balls and has no arm, then yeah, you are right, he's decent !!!WHODEY !!!

Stripes
Dunn is worse in the outfield than Wily Mo was.
jditty47
i like how curt's one positive for dunn was his outfielding. LOL!
agreen_112
I would trade him to an American League team that could bat him at DH. Some team would definitely be interested in batting Dumm at Dh.
Stripes
Yeah, Dunn would probably be a hot commodity for AL teams to look at. I sure wouldn't want him in my lineup though. I'd honestly rather have Jason freaking Romano hitting cleanup than Dunn.
SteelerFan87
Hey, if you all don't want Dunn, I'll take him. The Bucs could use his power, even if his defense is terrible (we've got enough defensive outfielders we could put one of them in to protect any leads), and he strikes out alot (we had Jose "Strikeout Master" Hernandez, and he certainly didn't have the power Dunn has). rwalling
The latest rumor is Houston and Dunn are jonesing for one another. If we got enough in return (e.g. Lidge and a young starter?) would you let him stay in the division?
Stripes
No thanks on Lidge... he looked horrible in 2006 and I'm not optimistic for the future. I'd take Brandon Backe though, and some bullpen help!Let Adam Dunn strikeout with the bases loaded for someone else in the division.
bengalboomer7
He'd hit some dingers in that weird crackerjack park. I'm also no thanks on Lidge.Where did you hear that rumor, it's news to me
