He hasnt look all that great in the preseason. Plus he will have no practice and no games for the next 4 weeks. And he didnt participate that much in the offseason.

I dont think he can step right in week 5 and start. I'm not sure that he can even start by the playoffs. I think that the only way he plays a significant role this year is if some one gets hurt. What if Marcus Wilkins and Caleb Miller are playing hellacious ST's. Could be a real tough decision.

I think after watching Simmons in the middle for four weeks we will be begging for anybody else play middle. I think week 5 Odell doesnt start but takes half of the snaps at middle during the game.

Simmons played well in the meaningless preseason. I'm optimistic about his chances of playing well during Odell's absence. I bet we'll see Odell starting immediately after his suspension is up though. I think he'd be ready to play there right now if the circumstances allowed it. Unless Simmons is playing out of his mind, you have to play the young guy.

Simmons is a good LB, and just because he's not a freak of an athelete doesn't mean he won't do a better job than Odell. He's not going to sit the bench just because Odell gets back.

I imagine if Marvin had high expectations of him starting after the bye, then Odell would have gotten more pre-season time than his late 4th quarter action against GB (That was the only action I saw him get at least). I expect that when Odell gets back, he will function as depth.

Too talented unless one of the young guys steps up big time. This guy was a beast last year. He wont sit long.

well, he does not have to come back and play week 5, we have a bye.

so, he gets the extra practice after the week 4 game and all the bye week before the week 6 game with Tampa.

He will play.

I know this is a video game but I moved Odell to ROLb in Madden and plugged Ahmad Brooks in the middle with Pollack at SLB, and my D is awesome. Thurman could be really good at outside Lb with his speed.

Odell, given the chance, is a starting caliber MLB and a team leader - but he needs to get out of the coach's doghouse first - I think Marvin is more upset with Thurman's failed drug test than any of the other cr@p that went down this off-season.

How do you guys think brooks would be for simmons replacement? hes big like simmons and before injury was athletic + it means we have great blitzs from either side

Odell goes back to middle and Simmons goes back OLB. That's the best lineup for our team right now.
