combatbengal Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 Seeing that we have the hardest schedule, this might not happen, but if we go into a game and spank a team in the first half, do you think they'll pull Palmer and rest him for the next game. Our backups looked pretty good. A heck of a lot better then Kitna did! Quote
AGrizzlyBaer Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 not at least until the start of the 4th quarter even then it can be bad i mean look what peyton did a couple of years ago Quote
Tasher Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 you betcha! Run Rudi (or: insert-name-of-other-back-who-makes-team-here) Run Quote
BengalChamps Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 Pretty good question. I hope they do take CP out at the end of blowouts. I dont know why this doesnt happen more in NFL games. Quote

We need our best each week and Palmer hasn't shown any problems since playing against the Packers. GO BUCKEYES! Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 This is a good question and I think it should at least be a consideration when we are up by a bunch at the end of the game, but if it's close, FORGET IT !!!WHODEY !!! Quote

ArmyBengal Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 Oh sh*t, missed that... On that one then, my answer is...HELL NO !!! WHODEY !!! Quote

I interpreted that statement to be, would you rest him in preparation for the next game, pulling him in the second half of a game the Bengals are blowing out the other guys . Reduce the risk, reduce the wear and tear. No logic in pulling him the next game cuz he is playing well Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 I missed the "next" in his statement. If he meant "the rest" of the game instead of the "next" game, I might understand it with a big lead in the 4th, but "the next" ?? NO CHANCE !!!WHODEY !!! Quote
Stripes Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 In a blowout, this would happen with or without Palmer's knee questions. Quote

Reduce the risk, reduce the wear and tear. No logic in pulling him the next game cuz he is playing well I agree, I think he meant to rest in preparation for the next game. Or to put it simply, do you take Carson out for garbage time? I say yes.An interesting quandry though...if the playoff spots are finalized before the last game, you might expect the starters to get benched that last week. But this year, our last game is home against the Steelers. Can anybody imagine a scenario where Carson wouldn't play at least 3/4 of that game? Quote
Kirkendall Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 Oh. That's a my bad. Sorry. Quote
derekshank Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 Considering that even though we were 11-5 last year, our average margin of victory last year was only 4.4 points per game... I'm going to assume that we aren't going to be blowing out a good Cheifs team in their house. But in the event that we are up by 3 scores in the 4th quarter... yeah. Get him the hell out of there. Quote
semiotter Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 If we are kicking someones ass in the 4th q I say pull him for now. But I dont think Carson will want to come out like that all the time.... Quote
combatbengal Posted September 4, 2006 Author Report Posted September 4, 2006 All right, let me clear things up. I didn't mean sit him the next game! Sit him the rest of the game to rest that knee. What about this question, we're undeafeated going into the last game. We made the playoffs. Do we bench him to rest prior to the playoffs, or do we play him to keep our record undefeated? I say we rest him. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 Nice clear up there !!! On to the next question... Carson would want to play in the last game (assuming we were still undefeated) but it would probably be the smart thing to rest him, but I would want him to play and I would want to see us take a shot at history and there would be no better way to do that, than with Carson under center !!!WHODEY !!!
