bb.gun77
i know this is a bengals board but jr pisses me off. he never runs balls out and countless fly balls fall in front of him. he's useless. i'm not even sure he'd make a good dh! please, dear lord, trade griffey for a decent starter or reliever. i would trade him straight up for dave dravecky or jeff reardon! go bengals
AGrizzlyBaer
this might be better in the reds part of the forum
jjakq27
Yes I am. He was taking his time on that grounder and should have been out. I think he is a little gunshy in the OF too. He didn't make a great effort on the fly ball over his head either. I know he's got things on his mind but it is frustrating to watch sometimes. I don't mind him doing it, because I know why. BUT WHY THE HELL IS IT OKAY FOR DUNN, LOPEZ OR PHILLIPS TO DO THE SAME THING?!?!?!?!?Griffey's legs are about like those of a 100 yearold, they're held together with experimental surgeries and hardware - HE SHOULD TAKE IT EASY!BUTWhy does Narron (rhymes with moron) accept it from the younger more fit players? Why doesn't Narron, Griffey, Hatcher, Marty, somebody chew on their @sses?!?!THis kind of sloppy, lazy play is why the Reds aren't 10 games up on the worst Cardinals team in years. It kills me by a thousand cuts.
ArmyBengal
Lazy, sloppy play is about right, but it looks they are going to break the losing streak tonight !!!WHODEY !!!
buck3y3d
Griffey makes too much money. That's why you can't trade him. But if Carl Linder buys another franchise, we'll have no problem getting rid of him.
ArmyBengal
Griffey certainly makes to much money for what we get day to day, but I just love having the guy on the team. I can't really explain it...WHODEY !!!
Stripes
After a Comeback Player of the Year season, Griffey hasn't done much this year. He's still hitting enough homers to be a productive part of the lineup, but he hasn't been very impressive anywhere else.I'm not an anti-Griffey guy at all... He is a good guy to have on the field. If we were to trade him for some youth, however... I'd approve.

The point was (and is) Griffey's behavior influences and influenced a number of talented young players (past and present) who developed some really bad habits related to not going all out on every play. Give me Ryan Freel, Chris Sabo, Pete Rose effort guys over the Lopezes and Dunns (all talent no motivation) of the baseball world any day. ArmyBengal
Freel has certainly proven himself this year and (in my mind) earned himself a starters role on this team !!!WHODEY !!!
Stripes
Freel is a little too inconstistent for me to be comfortable with him as a leadoff guy, but I would say he's the best option we have. I'd rather have him in center than Griffey.
