duus
Imagine if you will that, as much as we hate to think about it, they decide to not play Carson in the opener in KC. Further imagine that Wright tosses for 280 with 2 TDs and 1 INT. We win. First question: Would you continue to rest him for the home opener against the Browns, knowing you are 1-0 to start the season? This is a divisional home game. You have to have them. But Wright did well in KC. What to do?Second question: Assume Wright played the second game and performed well and we now sit at 2-0. Do you even bother bringing Palmer in for the game in Pittsburgh? No way I would. I'm thinking at that point that we are at worst 2-2 going into the bye. I leave well enough alone. Maybe I'm getting too old ... not sure.Last question: At worst, in this scenario, we are sitting at 2-1 going into a home game against NE, with the next week a bye week. Wright has played in all 3 games, and has a 2-1 record. I think this is a no-brainer. No way Carson plays.2-2 at they bye and Palmer having resting through it all? I would find that to be just fine by me. You give me that scenario, and I am jacked going into the final 3 quarters of the season.Curious what you guys think. cincy9275
wright is starting to show that in our offense he can be a good qb . in yesterday's mock game he started out sloppy but after that he lit up with chad and tj with 18 receptions and 290 yards . so carson should take it slow and just get healthy . i believe that wright can hold down the fort and win until carson is ready . redsbengalsbucks
Other scenarios include, Wright throwing a game losing pick late in the fourth quarter in KC, ala Kitna. He struggles but wins against the Browns. What now, 1-1 headed to Pitt? I play Palmer as soon as he is ready, week 1 or week 11, it does not matter.
duus
1-1 (or 0-2 ... duh), and I play Carson. 2-0 ... and he sits regardless of what they tell. The 5th week bye week seems to be an important factor for me if we pull out the first 2 games.

richmond_mat
You play him when he is cleared to play. Hopefully it will be before the bye week.If Kitna could win with this team then Wright certainly has a good chance too.
ArmyBengal
I think as soon as the doctors and Carson feel he's ready, he needs to play. The sooner we get him in (AFTER HES CLEARED) the better. If either Carson or the docs aren't sure, he rests regardless of anything else.WHODEY !!! GregCook
Carson Palmer is the franchise player and can't be played any sooner than when his knees are ready for the full pounding of the game. Given the severity of his injury, personally I don't see how he can play before December, but I'm not a doctor, what the hell do I know? Still, given the violence of the game and the weight of the players, how can the Bengals play the guy before the bye? Don't forget, there is no gain for the Bengals to announce he's out for the first few weeks, why give the Steelers the satisfaction?

combatbengal
Marvin will know when to put him in there. I believe we can beat the Browns without him. Maybe beat KC without him (Our Def will have to play a hell of a game though). No way we beat Pit without him. I say play him a few series in the first 2 preseason games and see how he does. If he looks good play him a half in the 3rd preseason, and then rest him in the 4th.I do know one thing though. We can not afford to go 0-3 or even 0-2 in our Div! walshfan
Its very simple...If and when he's able to play full throttle he will..If he misses 4, 8 or even 12 games thats the way it will be..He's 26 not 36 so they arent going to take a chance and ruin his career even if it means he sits for the better part of this season...Radio will Qb the team until then.....sigh

membengal
At this point, I kinda wish Lewis would agree to Carson's pleas for more reps and give them to him. If the issue is rustiness and him getting over the mental hurdle more than the soundness of the knee (and it sound like from Peter King's article this morning on si.com and about everything else I have read that it is), then it is time to let him shake off the rust. The_Next_Big_Thing
Put Carson in as soon as he is ready to go. The faster you get him back, the better our chances are to go to the big one!
