duus
I just happened upon this site and was pleasantly surprised to see that BengalsZone also has a Reds board. Very nice! Although my passion of recent years is surely directed in the negative (hatred of the Steelers), but long love of sport is that of the Reds. In fact, my two children are named after Bench and Morgan. Anyway, I am getting more and more excited everyday. I think with the acquisition of Cormier today, we are but one starter away from making a legitimate march toward a pennant. Yeah, that's right ... pennant! I know we still need to just make the playoffs (wild card or division title), but our offensive weapons, surprisingly strong rotation (getting stronger week over week), and now the improving bullpen ... all leads to the making of a strong team down the stretch. These next 2 months are key. We cannot afford any more series losses like this past weekend. Time for a bunch of 2 out of 3's, etc. over the next few weeks. I want to see a 6 game wildcard lead by Labor Day. Give me that, and we'll have to be sporting Red and Orange with our black! Man, September is lining up to be a terrific month for us Cincy fans! skyline
Yeah, who would have thought that we'd be seeing success in BOTH sports this year? I'm still not going to get overly excited about the Reds yet, but even if the best we can say is that they ended up with a winning record...well that's miles past what I expected. ArmyBengal
Actually, I'm finding it hard NOT getting excited about the Reds this season, as usually by this point of the season, we are 15 or so games back and out of contention for the playoffs. I'm loving what the front office is trying to do to bring back a winning team to Cincinnati. This upcoming series against the Cards is going to be HUGE !!!WHODEY !!! Stripes
I hope all this "win now" strategy doesn't come back to bite us in the butt in the next few seasons. Making the playoffs will be a struggle... Going deep into them will be near impossible.
ArmyBengal
I'll take making the playoffs at this point in time and be happy. I don't think the moves will hurt us long run at all. At least from a money standpoint...WHODEY !!!
