Kazkal
Mybe that tatoo'd guy from the rams ? does this mean we may get a sack durring that game?
alleycat
I could do without the sack if it meant we could hold Larry Johnson to under 200+ yards. This is huge!
HairOnFire
Mybe that tatoo'd guy from the rams ? does this mean we may get a sack durring that game? Actually, Kyle Turley is slated to start for the Chiefs at RT after their past starter, Welbourn, retired before he could be suspended for steroid use. (Character?) The newly named starter at LT for the Chiefs is Jordan Black.
Kazkal
So they have 2 new tackles? poor larry.
Stripes
Now this first game will be even moreso a great test for the new look defense. We should be able to contain Larry with 2 new tackles blocking for him. Justin, Pollack, and whoever the other end will be should all be able to put on some kind of rush.If not... then crap. turningpoint
No way Kyle Turley is playing tackle, man he one F'ed back, he can hardly support himself muchless another player shoving as hard as he can at him for 50+plays.Sorry, but the Chiefs are f**ked.trade anyone? our 2nd round tackle for there next years 1st. With his red Jersey substituting for the cape, the Chiefs fans will be yelling "Ole'!" all day with Black on Pollack! Man that's going to be fun to watch . . . derekshank
This is turning out to be the best possible time to play KC. They will have two new tackles on top of the fact that they have a new head coach, and a new offensive coordinator, which means new system. I'm thinking Larry will havea disappointing first few games while the offense adjusts.
HairOnFire
I haven't kept up on this, but one other thing to consider is when Kyle Turley signed with the Chiefs his weight was so low that there was talk of using him as a TE or OG. The Chiefs quickly downplayed the talk and claimed that Turley should be back to his old playing weight by the time training camp started, but even if he manages to add the pounds his strength and conditioning may not be at normal levels. For what its worth.

Spor_tees
All you guys are forgetting the one person that is the most happy about all this! Levi now moves up a spot on the Pro-bowl depth chart! Now he can be the starting Pro-Bowl tackle for years to come.

For what its worth. For what it's worth the Chiefs' site lists Turley at 6'5" and 300lbs. I'm sure they're padding the weight, so I'm guessing he's a real push-over right now. No way he starts at RT at 300lbs.
derekshank
Some analysts on ESPN were talking about the effect this will have on the Chiefs. They said losing both tackles will hurt Larry... but more than that, Trent Green. I don't really remember this, but they said he fell apart last year when Roaf was out of the lineup. It would be worth looking at.
duus
Forget the Bengals ... I'm now going crazy as to how this might change my fantasy draft list for RBs!!! Priorities ... priorities ... priorities.
schweinhart
Losing Roaf is one hellacious hit for the Chiefs. A camp battle at the bookends ain't what the Chiefs probably hoped for to start the preseason. It can't help their cause. This is the biggest impact retirement this year...much bigger than Jimmy Smith.
The_Next_Big_Thing
Don't put too much in this. It's not as if this means the game is a gimmee.
schweinhart
Definitely not a gimme especially given the Ty Law signing and the immediate improvement that can be expected on the Chiefs D with Herm Edwards in place. But it does look less insurmountable than it did given the roll the Chiefs and espeically Larry Johnson were last year. Replacing your bookends in a month's time is a big task -- and when one of them is a left tackle as good as Roaf still was it's an even bigger task.
