kingwilly Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 Some items jumped out at me:Jubenesah (Jul 24, 2006 12:11:56 PM)will the TE position be utilized more in the playbook this season, or will they just be "a 6th lineman" again this year, used most for blocking?Marvin Lewis (Jul 24, 2006 12:13:23 PM)To Jubenesah: Who would you prefer catching the football?______________This item, to me, indicatesthat they refuse to believe that an effective, pass-cathcing TE will add anything to the offense. i think this is a big mistake.Next:jr (Jul 24, 2006 12:32:01 PM)Coach, do you expect to use David Pollack and Ahmad Brooks more as pass rushing ends on passing downs or drop back linebackers?Marvin Lewis (Jul 24, 2006 12:32:46 PM)to jr: In substituted defenses, Pollack and Brooks will be more pass-rushers.__________________This sounds like: a) they project brooks to start and at the outside...and they will be running a hybrid 3-4 quite a bit. The_Next_Big_Thing Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 LOL My favorite answer "Marvin Lewis (Jul 24, 2006 12:11:31 PM)To brett80: The NFL schedule never changes. Each and every week we play NFL teams. I expect to be 4-0 at the bye.'As far as who would you prefer to be catching the football, your tight end or your stud receievers? DUH! With the number of weapons we have on the offense, we dont' really have enough balls to throw to the tight end much. Jeremi Johnson, Chris Perry, Rudi Johnson, Chad Johnson, TJ Alphabet, etc. are plenty of targets for Carson. Quote
Kirkendall Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 He seems somewhat inconvenienced. Think he has stuff on his mind? Quote

A whole lot of talk with nothing really said. I honestly don't know why he bothers...WHODEY !!! Quote

However, goal line we could really use a guy who is big, tall, and can use his body to keep defenders away from balls. TJ is pretty good at that, but we need someone who can get interfered with by a safety and still catch the ball.Or, if you really don't plan on throwing to the TE at all, put Whitworth in a #80-something jersey and run off tackle(s) all day long.
