kentjett
Nicholson's case is a lot different than the other players. Him and Rouse lived w/ the other teammate for the first half of the year and moved out for the second half. The player that remained there wouldn't give A.J.'s stuff back, so he went and got it himself. It was a stupid move but I would have done the same exact thing. His charges will be dropped to something petty. He will be a pro-bowl caliber player in a couple of years, mark my words. Rucker and Henry are jackasses and I'm clueless on the Odell situation. Somebody told me under the new policy, your first offense yields a four game suspension. I was also told that he didn't fail a test but he didn't show up for a test. We would have heard about the first test if he failed it.

kingwilly
21qHow about because Nicholson is one hell of a linebacker, and you want guys who are aggressive on your defense, regardless of possible character issues?By the way, Odell's suspension does not mean he did anything more than missed drug tests. The_Next_Big_Thing
I honestly don't think we will miss Odell. He may have a hard time getting his job back once Landon gets in the middle again. Landon Johnson is highly underated on our squad. This may be his comeback tour similar to when I predicted that TJ, rather than be cut when he came back from his injury, would rock.Landon is going to LIGHT IT UP. Wraith
Look Odell plays like a wild-man i.e. undisaplined, super-aggresive, borderline out-of-control. There is no reason to assume that his playing style is not indicative of his personality and lifestyle as a whole. Odell's past off-the-field infractions support this arguement (late for Meetings, fighting with Teammates, Fighting with girlfriends ect.).Odell has a problem with authority and this is the biggest concern I have with him, he cannot fix the problem unless he admits to the problem and feels it needs to be fixed. I have no doubt he failed several drug tests (it fits with the pattern) and so here is the final synopsis, of all the players who have had problems this off-season Thurman bothers me the most, why? because Henry is a lost cause and the team has moved on and Rucker and Nicholson have been caught on mickey-mouse s**t. If Thurman can't reign himself in he will be lost to the Bengals and he is far to valuable a talent for that to happen without hurting the team's chances to win. ArmyBengal
The team can't move on from Henry, he's injured and if released can file a grievance with the players union. Henry isn't going anywhere soon, regardless of what some may want to happen and neither is anyone else. Deal with what we've got... No one said you had to like...WHODEY !!! Wraith
Moved on does not mean that they are neccessarily going to cut him, it means that he is not part of the long term plan, I mean, they DID bring in Antonio Chatman and draft three WRs with size and speed, since both TJ and CJ are signed to long term contracts what else are you going to say but that they are not planning for Henry to be a major part of the team. I believe that this is pretty clear cut. Again, this team does not need Henry to succeed, it may need Thurman at least in the short term. That is all I was saying I am sorry if I did not make my position clear enough.

Henry is a luxury on a team with deep talent at that position. OT is the only natural MLB on this team and a potential ProBowler to boot. Landon is a good stopgap, but he will be missed. markymark69
Very disappointed in Odell. Great player, difference maker on the field. But this was a selfish move, whether he failed the test or just missed it, either way it is selfish. I understand Marvin will take something of a hit on this, but nobody said anything about Thurman's character last year while he was making all the plays on the field, or Henry for that matter. This lies strictly with Odell!!!! IMO.
chrishcovga
If O'Dell Thurman is reading this, I would just like to crush his emotions for his silly antics.* As most of you remember, I'm am the only Die-Hard Bengal fan from Cincinnati, now living in Georgia. As a matter of Fact, I currently live about 25 minutes from O'Dell Thurmans house in Monticello, Ga. A co-worker of mine has a son named Brandon Vinson. He is a 16 year old highschool sophomore who is a standout Linebacker/Safety/and Runningback. His Favorite, and I REPEAT, His FAVORITE FOOTBALL PLAYER IN THE WORLD WAS.......O'DELL THURMAN. *Needless to say, the news of O'Dell's suspension was taken very hard by the hardworking teen. To be honest, Ms. Vinson has stated that her son Brandon has been taking O'Dell Thurman posters off of his wall. He has even packed away his O'Dell Thurman Georgia Jersey, which she says " He's had hanging on his wall since he got it, and has never worn it once."O'Dell, If you read this. You may not always know the ones you hurt, which is the true definition of Selfishness. Great players if you are to ever become one, must be Selfless and Fearless. It's Easy to do the wrong thing. Young Brandon knows that , however True Leaders are leaders by example and are not afraid to do the right thing!
derekshank
For the record, the NFL has not released any offical statements on Odell's suspension. It is possible that rather than the generic "substance abuse" policy, he may have violated the "performance-enhancing substance policy." This would give a 4-game suspension for a single failed test. There is no warning for this like there is when testing positive for marijuana. We can't be sure... but that is a possibility. Not that I would be pleased about Odell being on steroids... but I would be happier about him getting caught once taking a banned substance (like the Panther's players), rather than 2 positive or missed tests.I for one am relieved it was just a 4-gamer. I was half-expecting a full season suspension. We don't have great depth at LB, but as often as Odell helped us with big plays, he hurt us with over-agressiveness.That was likely to improve this season... but the point is that Landon playing there should still be at least as good as we had last year. I don't see this a huge blow. We were talking about being able to go 2-2 if Palmer didn't play the first 4. Now we're acting like we'll suck without a sophomore LB. I'm just not all that worried about it I guess. The bigger concern here is if he's going to get it together. My vote is that he will. jditty47
simmons took the reps at MLB in the minicamps when odell was not there. He will be the MLB during Odells absence. I like the move i am one of the few simmons supporters. He is experienced, reliable, and behind adams and the new line, he should be very productive with the talent that we have outside of him. Pollack, Brooks, L. Johnson, etc are more than enough fire power from the ouside. He is always in the top 3 in tackles on the defense and should again produce moving back to the spot he started with for 5 seasons...back to when the bengals were top 10 in D. ArmyBengal
Like I said in another thread, I'm more concerned what is going to happen with Carson than I am with the thought of having Pollack, Simmons, and Landon being our starting LB corps for the first four games !!! Depth is a good thing !!!WHODEY !!!
