I remember going as a kid, but was too young to really appreciate it. If memory serves, it was the summer before the Bengals played with the striped helmets, so it was the first time I was seeing them. That's all I really remember.

I guess my point is that it might be worth waiting until your kids are old enough to get anything out of it. Unless of course you live close enough to make return trips. I grew up near Columbus and haven't made it back since.

Has anybody made a trip to the hall of fame in Canton? If so, is it worth a visit? Trying to plan a vacation with my kids.

Been there, it wouldn't make my top ten for vacation spots for kids. here are some places we visited with our kids when they were between the ages of 6 to 16 that I would rate well above the football hall of fame.

1 Yellowstone Park - things seen here will last a lifetime

2 Washington DC - the monuments , the Capitol, Smithsonian

3 Greenfield Village & Henry Ford museum in Detroit

4 COSI (Center of Science and Industry) - there's one in Chicago and Columbus

5 Cedar Point or Kings Island - Ohio

6 Children's Museum - Indianapolis

7 Tennessee Aquarium - Chattanooga

8 Hocking Hills State Park - Ohio - great place to see in the summer but to see it in the winter when all the waterfalls are frozen is phenomenal

9 Mount Rushmore - pictures and TV shows do not do it justice

10 Grand Canyon - pictures and TV shows do not do it justice

11 Niagra Falls

Both the Football hall of fame and the Rock & Roll hall of fame were less than I expected when I visited them.

Yeah, but it has been a long time since. Definitely for the football enthusiast but may not be for younger kids. Make it part of a group of things to visit in that general area.

Off the top of my head here are a few other things to check out in the greater Canton area along with the HOF.

Paul Brown Tiger Stadium in Massillon

Akron Aeros minor league baseball team

William McKinley Monument in Canton

Harry London Candies factory in North Canton

Stan Hywett Hall in Akron

Amish Country (http://www.oacountry.com/Ohio-Amish-Country-Map.htm)

I agree. But for kids?

You've listed some interesting places, most of which I haven't seen. But I wonder if most kids really want to spend their vacation driving to Detroit or South Dakota.

I'm not a parent, but you probably need to make sure there are a few amusement parks or beaches in the vicinity of these places. Or at least make sure the hotel has a pool and an arcade for the days you're not appreciating the wonders of nature.
