PMThor Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 Ok, I am very happy for this championship.I don't follow the NBA very much at all. Basically I only follow the former Xavier graduates and their teams. So I must say, I am extremely happy to say James Posey, Xavier Graduate, is an NBA champion! Woohoo! Damn proud of my fellow Muskie! Hard nosed, team player who will do anything and everything for the team. The definition of a champion. NBA champ! Quote
San Antonio Bengal Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 I am very happy because Dallas lost. This was their season to do it and they choked! How can you lose when you're up 2 - 0 and have a big lead in game three? How can you let the away team win their three games at home? With an up and coming Suns team and with the Spurs being a power in the west year in and year out, it might be a couple years before Dallas gets this far again. Mark Cuban, enjoy your off season. Quote
jditty47 Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 dallas will be good, and they are better than the spurs right now. ya i think the suns will be the team to beat with stadamire coming back though. Quote
Stripes Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 Well I guess I was wrong. Congrats to the Heat. I look foward to seeing LeBron dominate everybody next season . Too bad the rest of his team will still suck. Quote
ChadJohnson-85 Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 http://www.nba.com/finals2006/index_winner.html And Dwayne Wade got MVP also. Did anyone here actually watch the game? On the last shot when Jason Terry was about to shoot a 3 and someone was tugging on his shirt and they got away with it. Did anyone see that? Quote
ArmyBengal Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 I saw that tugging of the shirt as well and figured it to be the focal point and allow Dallas to continue whining about how the NBA is "rigged"...I also believe the Suns with Stoudamire coming back will be a force and the Mavericks are young, so I see them having a go at it again. The Spurs are still the team I follow the most and think they will have another big season next year. I'm I the only one happy we aren't talking much about Detroit ??Congrats to the Heat and D. Wade !!! I love the fact Mourning and Peyton got their rings and was happy for Riley. More importantly, I'm happy Cuban didn't win sh*t because we would have never seen the end of his dumbass on TV. God I hate that dude !!!WHODEY !!! Quote
bengalboomer7 Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 San Antonio's best days are behind them, plus, they have dallas and Phoenix to contend with.Jason Terry is a free agent and I would really like to see the Cavs solve their PG problem with Terry. Quote
jditty47 Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 terry aint goin nowhere. next years power houses will be the same as this year, but add the suns more to that mix. that ending was kinda weird...wade gets a ticky tack foul by nowitzki on the one end, giving wade 2 free throws...wade grabs terrys shirt as he turns the corner to shoot....no foul. if i was a dallas fan id be irate. terry aint goin nowhere. next years power houses will be the same as this year, but add the suns more to that mix. and u can add the lakers to the mix if they get either garnett or kenyon martin like its rumored. =) go lakers! we have the money again to buy another championship!!! that ending was kinda weird...wade gets a ticky tack foul by nowitzki on the one end, giving wade 2 free throws...wade grabs terrys shirt as he turns the corner to shoot....no foul. if i was a dallas fan id be irate. San Antonio Bengal Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 dallas will be good, and they are better than the spurs right now.San Antonio's best days are behind them, plus, they have dallas and Phoenix to contend with.Hmmm.... in the last season, the Spurs set a team record for most wins in a season. In the last season, they were knocked out of the playoffs by the Mavericks in an epic seven game series that could have gone either way really. And considering that Dallas was on the verge of winning the championship (up big in game three), that's nothing to be ashamed of. And consider that Tim Duncan was not his normal self throughout the season due to his plantar fasciitis in his right foot. Given that he is able to heal up (pun intentional) in the off season and that Pop and RC bring in some young guys to replace the dead wood on the team, we'll be just as much in contention. Don't write the Spurs off just yet. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 The fouls may have been questionable and some not called, but once again, go back and watch the Spurs and Mavs series and see how many bad calls went in favor of the Mavs !!! If those calls had gone the correct way, this wouldn't even be an issue. If any fans have the right to be upset, it's Spurs fans... They were screwed, but handled it very well, as did the team !!! F*ck the Mavs !!! Whiny b*tches !!!WHODEY !!! Quote

jditty47 Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 ya...spurs need to make changes or they are just gonna be very good in the regular season and choke in the playoffs. ppl that say their bench is good needs to really look at it. Quote
Smackdown625 Posted June 22, 2006 Report Posted June 22, 2006 Congrats to the Heat. I'm glad that "The Glove" Gary Payton finally got his ring, and big props to D-Wade for an amazing postseason. But now it's time for LeBron to get his... Quote
Casey Posted June 22, 2006 Report Posted June 22, 2006 Glad to see the Heat take it. There is no way I ever want to see Cuban hoisting that trophy. As far as the Spurs go, I wouldn't be too quick to discount them. A healthy Duncan makes a world of difference to that team. Manu will be back looking for redemption and if TP continues to improve he will be a serious MVP candidate in a few years. We sent Rasho Nesterovic to Toronto today, which is going clear up money to make minor adjustments. The Spurs aren't dead yet. As long as Timmy is there, they will be a title contender.GO SPURS GO Quote
San Antonio Bengal Posted June 22, 2006 Report Posted June 22, 2006 As long as Timmy is there, they will be a title contender.Exactly.And yes, the Spurs do have quite a bit of age on them and I've said for a while that they need to get some youth on the team. Anyone who follows the Spurs knows that Pop and RC are busy constantly during the off-season and the trade today is just the start. They are always wheeling and dealing... the core of the team (Timmy, Manu and Tony) will be there, but who knows what the rest of the team will look like when next season starts. If anything, the Spurs never just sit tight in the off season. Expect some changes. Quote
Casey Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 that was a worthless trade...How do you figure that? They cleared up cap money by dumping Rasho's contract which is what they have been trying to do for two years. Also, they got Bonner who is going to help out big time on the perimeter. Sorry, I don't see that as worthless. Quote
jditty47 Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 bonners gonna help out bigtime on the perimeter...LOL!!! isnt that what barry, van exel, finley, etc are supposed to do. Quote
San Antonio Bengal Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 It wasn't worthless. It was just a trade to get out from under a contract and get some money back. I really don't see either player making much of an impact. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see at least one of them packaged up in another deal before the season starts. Quote
