duus
OK ... another attempt at my plea for information (I heard that the previous thread was accidentally deleted). What I am requesting is that you guys who are 'in-the-know' share as much information as you come across (especially locally in Cincinnati) for those of us who are geographically distant. I just keep hoping and praying that our QB is blessed with a speedy recovery and somehow is ready in August. Dreaming? Maybe ... but something tells me this will occur! In any case, please pass along any information, sites, blogs, etc you know of that will help me stay on top of this. My only source is really ESPN and the occassional call 'back home' to Kentucky. I know the information here is surely more up-to-date.Thanks in advance. schweinhart
I hear you...Too much news about Big Bozo and the new #9 in Rat Town and no where near enough about what will hopefully prove to be the biggest story of the 2006 season...the Carson Palmer comeback.NFL Network will have a report from Bengals minicamp tonight at 7 on Total Access. Hopefully it's either Paul Burmeister or Schefter doing it but it'd be great to see Wilcots. That should give a good glimpse of Palmer and probably an update straight from the horse's mouth.Bengals.com posted an interview with Marvin that talked about Palmer's progress, which pretty much stated that Palmer is progressing on sked to do what Marv said early on he expected him to be doing by the season opener....start at QB. Larry
call me a wide eyed optimist, but opening day sounds good. Just hope he doesn't rush it. Marvin did say, it doesn't matter who is QB. We will go with the best option...

ShulaSteakhouse
8-9 weeks ahead of schedule, they are still hopeful he will be ready for the season opener barring any set backs.
AMC
I find Marvin's quotes with Hob's yesterday quite interesting. He sure seems to believe Carson will be ready. My thought here is....How much of the severity of Carson's injury is based on medical fact, and how much is based on media speculation about the actual injury???We know the knee injury was bad. Plus we know that the initial doctor that performed the surgery was "misquoted" and/or "misrepresented" the extent of the injury.BUT we also know that Carson seems to be doing extremely well in rehab and on the field. How do we interpret these two opposing sets of facts?
Dirk Funk
Boomer, either from 1360am or NFL Network, states that Carson was way, way ahead of his projected rehab timetable. He was shocked at how quickly his body has bounced back and believes the hype of being ready for game 1.Good news from a "half-empty" broadcaster. It will most likely be Chris Boden reporting. i agree Solly would be great, but he was here all last week...

stilldiesel
My take is that Carson and Ben will both be back. These guy get a level of care the rest of us could only dream of. If one of us were in that bike accident a team of 4 surgeons would not have spent 7.5 hours on your face. They did that to make sure he healed correctly and to speed up the healing process. (per the Post-Gazette) They even put special screws in his gums so his 2 teeth can be replaced in 6 weeks.I watched the interview with the MD who operated on Palmer. He made the injury sound horrible and then said he was able to fix it to make himself look like the man. Don't ever compare how quickly you recover from something to how quickly these guys will recover because you don't receive their level of care. We don't get that kind of service with our HMO's? That's it I'm calling HR cause for the prices we pay we should! Sorry, I had to add a little humor. I would have agree with you. Both of them will be just as good (hopefully Carson more than Roeth...you know who) The treatments and rehab facilities they have make all the difference in the world! I do think it will take longer for Big Ben just for the fact that it happened a lot later than Carson's, being that the jaw was affected will make it interesting to see how his helmet will affect him at first and see how well he responds to that first big hit of the season. Like I said, the best care $$$ can buy. BTW, he will be out of the hospital tomorrow. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06165/698251-66.stm

But no doubt they can't cover what ain't started yet and they didn't as it turned out.Good things about last night's show, though. Hopefully most of the drivel about Big Bozo is done with. They wasted far too much of the show on Big Bozo complete with the report from Giants minicamp featuring treatises from Coughlin and Strahan about Big Bozo, Schefter's ongoing saga about contract impacts over the Big Bozo incident, a needless interview with Ike Taylor about Big Bozo and even a "You can still drive the car with the wheel off but it won't drive right" analogy from Chad after Bengals practice at the Reds park about the Steelers or Bengals trying to play without their real QB.Also, the 10-minute barf of Ray-Ray is done with so that won't clutter up the show tonight at 7 that the ticker showed will feature Marv on team cam.Time for the Bengals to take front and center and get their Super Bowl revved up.
