walzav29
Who do you think is better in the slot? I really think that Chatman is a bit better at this point. Maybe, maybe not after Henry get's experience but I think Antonio will be better this year than Henry was last year. I see it as an upgrade. Especially since Antonio can stay out of the slammer. Especially since Antonio can stay out of the slammer.Last year, when they had 3 receiver sets, Henry was on the outside while Housh was in the slot. I do think while Henry is out Chatman will play slot and Housh will go to the outside. I'm sure they will switch it up often, between Housh and Chatman in the slot, to confuse defenses. Neither of them are scared to go across the middle.
CBin2k7
Housh is one of the best slot receivers in the league. He is purely money in the slot on 3rd down and in the red zone. Housh knows how to get open and be physical across the middle. I think this is what makes TJ one of the most underrated receivers in the game, he is our best target in the red zone, hands down and it's not close. I love Chad, but TJ puts up numbers in the red zone. This maybe where the team would miss Henry. Being able to move Housh to the slot in the no huddle 3 WR sets and on 3rd down, is big for this team. Obviously K-Wash, and McNeal could replace Henry on the outside because of their speed, but their route running is very limited at this point in time. I don't know if Chatman is that effective on the outside.

The_Next_Big_Thing
TJ will be in the slot. That's his bread and butter. Chatman will be a speed threat on the opposite side of Chad.

ChadJohnson-85
ML needs to trade Henry and KW to the Jags for a second round pick for next year.
jditty47
warrick was a lil better of a slot the year before his injury than tj is now. but tj is the best slot we have now by far. kw will probably battle tab and mcneal for henry's spot on the outside in 3 reciever sets...chapman will get a look at the slot behind tj. bengalboomer7
I can't believe I'm typing this, but Spain is right I forgot about Tab, this really thorws the door open for Tab to get some serious PT at WR. I wouldn't be suprised if he's the guy that fills in on the outside while TJ moves to the slot.
Kazkal
When TJ isen't on the outside for 3 WR sets I say battle will be between Kdub & Tab mainly with possible mcneal later in the season
GregCook
Chris Henry turned out to be a fine receiver that could run past people, run his routes well and score touch downs. He's got big shoes and I have no idea if we have anyone who can fill them. Tab Perry looked great out there last season, with quick bursts of speed, but can he run routes on time?. Washington hasn't gotten it in 4 years, I don't think he'll get it now. While Henry is a social deviant, he is a fine football player. Losing him is tough. Losing him is tough.I recall one of the few strengths mentioned about Perry when he was drafted was his route running. He doesn't have the physical tools that Henry has... but he is big and strong and hard to tackle, and if he can run good routes, then he is another Housh in the making. We need another fast WR to take the focus off Chad as a deep threat... and Henry was doing that to perfection, but we need someone we can count on. Stripes
I'd agree that nobody on the Bengals roster is capable of filling Henry's shoes adequately if he is to be dumped. After him, our next best field stretcher would probably be K-dub (). T.J. will have the slot covered, and I doubt Chatman will be on the outside much. Tab is sort of the odd man out, because his abilities as a receiver are best suited as for a player in the slot, where he is not likely to get in the games often when T.J. and Chatman are on the team.McNeal might prove to be a huge asset for us this year if he can learn the position quickly. With his speed, he'd be perfect to take Henry's place if he can learn the routes and have the hands necessary.

Tab is 6-3 215; the same size as Henry. I don't think he's the receiver Henry is right now but he also didn't play as much in college as Henry did. Give him time. I think he will compliment Chad, on the other side, just fine if Henry's not around. With Tab's size and strength in 3-5 years he could be a T.O. type receiver without the problems. ArmyBengal
This just makes me sick thinking about how bad Henry F*CKED himself and this team !!! He is by far the best to take the heat off of Chad with his ability to stretch the field and his speed. I loved watching him last year make those catches over the shoulder (See Chicago's TD pass), but alas just as Derek stated, you have to be able to count on him and at this point, we can't. I agree with Chatman getting a huge chance here and would also like to see Tab get his shot as well. Sorry, I just can't stand Washington, I think he's a p*ssy and can't do anything on special teams whatsoever. I'd like to see him gone at this point !!!WHODEY !!! walshfan
chatman is more or less a possesion type like TJ... that said I think he could play wideout if need be .. He can route crisp routes and that'll free him deep.. The height advantage Henry posed on corners was a blessing that chatman doesnt possess..Kelly Washington has a chance to step up and make some big plays this year. If the team keeps him I think he'll contribute allot more than fans give him credit for.. Dont forget as the season wears on Brazell or McNeal could make some type of impact as well... both are burners and McNeal has some size to him as well... turningpoint
pretty much a dumb arguement to begin with. why?Henry=outside longball threat.Chatman=small slot, make you miss guy.
schweinhart
Probably more like P-Dub vs. Chatman and whether that changes how Housh is used in 3 WR sets. As well as Housh has performed over the middle, he also continues to show he's a deep ball threat and having a capable underneath quick slant and crossing WR like Chatman who's got the quickness to stop fast at a soft spot like PDub could gives the Bengals the option to turn Housh deep more. KDub is primarily a deep ball threat because he lacks the separation skills needed over the middle to make him a reliable slot receiver. Maybe he figures out how to do it better this year. The Perrys should make the slot mix even more interesting. Both should get a crack at it depending on the matchups defensively. But no question that Housh is the possession receiver on this team. No one else has better hands or body control after the catch to make the first man miss. The question that will have to be answered is who is the next best available deep threat to keep Housh in the slot. Chatman, McNeal, KDub, Tab, etc... There's the battle left behind by the idiot Henry.
agreen_112
I know we haven't seen what chatman can really do on this team yet, but I still have to go with Henry. He lead all the rookie recievers with 9 td's last year, with a little help from Carson. He's #3 hands down. Lets just hope that we see him healthy by week
