Notes: Palmer to get limited minicamp work

Quarterback Carson Palmer is going to participate in a limited fashion at the June 15-17 mandatory minicamp, but he won’t take part in team drills. Palmer, rehabbing a reconstructed left knee, has been taking part in quarterback drills, as well as throwing some pass routes. . .

Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis spoke for the first time Wednesday about the recent arrests of Chris Henry and A.J. Nicholson and said he told them, “You embarrassed us as an organization. Myself, my coaches, etc.”

“Once it comes out, your name is never cleared,” Lewis said. “Once your name is put in something, it never is cleared. The damage can be done in the larger portion for you, and basically for us.”

Lewis said he would deal with Henry and Nicholson “as they’re allowed to be dealt with,” indicating the team will get the final say because the Bengals are allowed to cut players only for skill reasons.

“At some point, you have to make a decision on whether this guy is good enough for our football team and the decision is going to be made that way as well,” Lewis said. “Because if you can’t function, you may not be good enough because we can’t count on you.” . . .

Nicholson, accused of breaking into his old home and stealing about $1,700 worth of electronic equipment, said he “it’s going to turn out all right.” . . .

Lewis admitted the Bengals probably won’t be able to keep all three offensive linemen whose contacts are up after this season, but he said the club is trying and he’s proud how tackles Willie Anderson and Levi Jones, and Eric Steinbach have handled it.

“It takes two to tango,” he said. . .

Lewis said the only player not able to participate in the mandatory minicamp is running back Chris Perry, coming off a knee procedure. Cornerback Deltha O’Neal, coming off a knee scope, is going to get a second look before he gets cleared. It will be the first action for running back Rudi Johnson, also coming off a knee scope. . .

Linebacker David Pollack took the field for the first time this spring in Wednesday’s voluntary practice and says his injured foot felt fine and laughed about the rumors he had a broken leg. Lewis said Pollack first injured the foot last season, made it worse by not resting it in the offseason and then tweaked it doing another activity he wouldn’t name. . .

Henry sounds like he's done here as soon as they are able to get rid of him. That's the vibe I get from Marvin's recent quotes, and their inquiry to the league about their options with him.

Who knows about AJ, but it sounds like if he's going to miss any significant or notable amount of time this year or during the preseason, he won't get a contract.

I am quite tired of Chris Perry's constant health struggles, he can't stay healthy, and possibly never will. If he has another injury plagued season, you have to look elsewhere for options at his position/role.

I realize this is just a procedural mini-camp hold out, but I swear I hope we are not hearing the same things come training camp with him. ("still recovering" etc...,)
