Suprise Team of 2006

Recommended Posts

In 2003, we had the Panthers. In 2004, it was the Chargers. Last season, it was the Bears....

Who will be the suprise team of the 2006 season??

My vote is for the New Orleans Saints. My vote also has nothing to do with the fact with Reggie Bush, because I honestly don't feel that he'll be a big factor this upcoming season. The reason I picked the Saints is because I look at what Drew Brees did when he finally got somebody to throw to in San Diego. He improved greatly! Put him in New Orleans, where he has Joe Horn, Donte Stallworth, and the rookie Mike Hass out of Oregon State. It all just depends on when Brees can come back....

If it weren't for the strenght of the division, my immediate answer would be the Cleveland Browns.

That said, I'll go with Philadelphia (if you can call them a surprise).

You can definitely call Philly a suprise team. With the talent that the other teams in that division have gotten this offseason & with what happened last year within the Eagles locker room, nobody is really picking the Eagles to do anything this season. I have them finishing last in the NFC East, but I wouldn't be suprised one bit to see them make some noise...

I'd say Miami, but they aren't really a surprise team, seeing as they finished above .500 last year.

My choice would have to be New Orleans as well, I think the additions of Drew Brees and Reggie Bush will help them greatly.

Watch out for Arizona again as always, this could be the year that they finally break out.

Detroit

They made huge pick ups in the coaching staff.

Disciplinarian in HC Marinelli, solid DC in Donny Henderson, and

one of the best Offensive minds in the NFL in OC Mike Martz.

Add to that a mediocre division and Detroit is my pick for surprise team of '06.

I'm sick of hearing about Arizona, although I definitely understand. It's time for them to make it happen or give the team to Lienart next year sort of the Palmer / Kitna situation and then it will take another year from there.

New Orleans may do better with Brees, but I think their defense is the real questions mark and Reggie Bush will be neither great nor a disappointment.

Oakland could do better with Brooks and some changes, but still see them struggling this year.

The team I see making the biggest improvement is Cleveland. It's to bad that no matter how good they get, they are still at least 2 more seasons from competing with the Bengals and Steelers. If the question is "Suprise", Cleveland is a good bet...

I don't know how many would call it a suprise, but I see the Cowboys having a huge year this year. They better because Bledsoe isn't getting any younger !!!

WHODEY !!!

This is a tough one but I would like to see Philly do something again this year. Last year they had a lot of baggage. They really have something to prove this year!

My other pick would have to be Detroit, but I think with Harrington gone the starter spot will go back and forth between QBs so there won't be much rhythm there. Martz is an offensive wizard but he will have his hands full!

Mike Hass out of oregon state isnt gonna improve the saints. that guy had some great games where he had like 12 catches...and i like that he can take a hit, but i also saw games where that guy got shut down by better corners. in the NFL i doubt he does much...hes not tall enough or strong enough.

as for the surprise team...i think the texans will come in 2nd in their division behind the colts. i can definately see the lions winning that division though with the crappy vikings, crappy packers, and beatable bears.

Miami. Nick Saben had the team going in the right direction winning the last 6 games of last season. The question mark for them is the QB position as to weather Daunte Culpepper will be healthy enough to go full tilt.

Detroit is also a good pick, but I think they suffered a little when they let Joey Harrington go to Miami. Coorperate Knowledge. But Mike Martz is probably a better coordinator they HC and I think he will find a way to use the speed demons at the WR spot.

And of course the sexy pick is 'Zona. And this is the team that I think well surprise everyone. They have drafted fairly well and have improved on defense. The question is how long will he tolerate Kurt Warner taking sacks before he injects Matt Leinert into the lineup.
