jjakq27
http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=95201San Diego really screwed the pooch when they took Phillips Rivers over Ben Roethlisberger, even after they worked out a deal for Eli Manning. They were lucky that Brees played so well for them the last two years which masked that mistake. I think Brad Johnson will be a decent QB but not great for the Vikings. He may be a bridge to the next guy they draft in the next season or two.And Vince Young over Matt Leinert (with Norm Chow as OC) is one hell of a risk. Young has more athletic ability and more potential upside but there was once a youngster named Akili Smith in this town and he had many of those attributes as well. That will only get you so far in the NFL.
ChadJohnson-85
I think the reason the Titans picked Vince Young over Matt Leinert is because he's Steve McNair's cousin , and they want someone who can run with the ball also.
Stripes
I doubt Philip Rivers will play at a multi-Pro Bowl level as Brees did... That sounds like a terrible move by San Diego. I agree that Young looks like a classic bust as well. Another team with a (repeat) QB disaster looming is the Green Bay Packers.
Kazkal
Meh I don't think even if young pans out that he'd be worth it over leinhart I'd take a peyton manning style QB over mcnair one anyday o_O
Edogger
I was surprised by the Titans taking Young over Leinert as well but Vince looks and plays more like McNair. So I can see their reasoning thinking Young will be able to step in with very little variation, but Vince played in a shotgun only offense (correct me if I am wrong). Plus, the whole Leinart/Chow thing, IMO, would have been a smart move as well. I think I would have taken that route. I can't believe what Droughns did. But I am sure it could have been provoked by the mrs. Who knows maybe she made a threat and said she was leaving and taking half of everything...fuel to the fire and pushed him too far. Where there is money, greed is close by!

I've got as much faith in Rivers as I ever had in Brees. Brees was a bust who got poked in the ass and stepped it up. I'm betting he fails in his new home. redsbengalsbucks
The two biggest QB explosions will be Brett Favre after his 20th INT in the 6th game of the season and Brett Favre again when they bench his gray bearded ass in the 7th game after his 21st INT. ArmyBengal
Speaking of Brett Favre, as much as I have loved watching him in the past, I'm now hoping he has an absolutely SH*TTY year and am hoping to watch him have a complete meltdown on national televison...WHODEY !!! ArmyBengal
TNBT, I don't know if that is suppose to be funny or you are seriously, but besides that, I just laugh when people act like an asspiece and then self implode like he did last year. I expect much of the same for Favre this year. I don't know, maybe it's the Green Bay fans that show up at the local joint that are more Favre fans than they are Green Bay fans. They are a strange sort and just irritate me in general, so it's fun to mess with them when Favre implodes !!!WHODEY !!!

He's one hell of a QB, and should have abandoned the fudgePackers when they abandoned him. Remember, Carson could be the next Favre if we don't keep guys like Willie, Levi, and Eric giving him time to throw the ball.
jditty47
um who cares if brees wasnt that great before rivers got there...remember gates wasnt there at the time and it was just LT and him. my point is brees is good now and has proven he can handle it in the NFL...rivers has not. rivers will never have a good year in the NFL, he will be worse than boller. As for Brees, 5 years in the league, and of those, he's had one great year, one good year, and nothin but junk. He has no long ball, having thrown only 23 total receptions of over 40 yards in his CAREER, and the only reason he has succeeded is because Gates made him look good. ArmyBengal
I don't really think judgement can be passed on Rivers at this point, so I'll reserve that until he actually plays in a game or so, but even then, a year in the system actually taking game time snaps will show where he's going the next year. I agree Favre has been a great QB and is a hall of famer, but he's acting like an f*ckstick and I'm to the point I'll enjoy watching him screw up again next year.I also agree we need to get our o-line intact and QUICK. I still see at least one deal getting done, a tag being used, and maybe Willie being shown the door. Don't get me wrong, I love Willie and want them all to stay, but you have to go with the youth and Willie already got the "Big Deal". We shall see...WHODEY !!! He should have retired last year or the year before. Go out while on top of his game. He is going to be the Gordie Howe of the NFL. Stage a comeback when he turns 60!I think we should arrange to have someone at every one of the Packers games to run out and steal the ball from him. That should get him to break! This is turning into another Kitna/Palmer kind of discussion. The difference is that Brees is lightyears better than Kitna, and I highly doubt Rivers will amount to Palmer's standards. In other words, I doubt the Chargers can possibly have had much to gain by the switch, but much more to lose.I don't expect Rivers to suck by any means, and Brees may very well struggle with a Gates-less Saints squad. Still, he was a Pro-Bowler under the current circumstances as a Charger regardless of his talent/lack there-of.
