Stripes
I'm pretty surprised that this thread has developed into an actual discussion.I like what Perry adds to the offense, regardless of where he was picked in the draft.
Spain
How can this debate sttill be going on? The Bengals took the best playa avaliable! They got caught in the RBs that year they stayed diciplined and got a playa! While Im not a big Rudi fan, The real? is can we get something for Rudi? ArmyBengal
For the love of God Spain, please stop with the whole crack habit you've got going on. No one in our backfield is going anywhere !!! This is like saying, when are we replacing Shayne Graham ?? I f**king HATE KK, and his stupidass is still here... Why ?? Depth and the fact he gets paid peanuts. Rudi on the other hand has set the single season rushing record in consecutive years and Perry is a first round pick. After them, what depth is there ?? Please don't tell me Watson either or I'll vomit...WHODEY !!!

derekshank
Perry was drafted when we weren't sure if Rudi could do it over the course of a whole season. Dillon had just left, we needed depth, and Rudi was a bit of a question mark. It was the logical pick. Now we know that Rudi is the man. Hindsight is 20/20, and we probably would have been better off taking a RB in the 3rd round, but we have Perry now... so why are we arguing about it. He's more valuable to the team than what we could get for him in a trade.I don't know how long Rudi can last with his style... since most power backs have short shelf lives. Perry is already injury prone... so why are we talking about getting rid of either of them? The more one of them can play, the longer the career of the other lasts, and the happier we all are as Bengal fans. I'm with Housh on this one. Give the ball to Rudi 25 times, and Perry 15 times. (roughly that ratio anyway).Perry hasn't done a whole lot yet, but he is a very good 3rd down back. (yes... I said very good. Watch the tapes... he doesn't get into the endzone much... but he picks up very valuable 1st downs). He might be paid too much for that job, being a 1st rounder... but when he's a RFA, his salary will become much more appropriate. It's the same as the Justin Smith logic. The fact that he was a 1st rounder will be held against him.... but he's more than solid for the role he plays. We need them both... especially while Carson is getting healthy again. And if I had my way, even when Carson does get healthy, we'll see a lot more rushing. We have a very effective running game. If it gets better, like Brat is talking, we may not need to be a pass first team this year... and that is one step closer to a championship.
