walzav29
Boomer has me thinking. What's more important? This year or the next ten? If he is 100% then go ahead and play against the Chiefs, but how could he be? Culpepper and Braylon aren't expected back until October and they were hurt months before Palmer. I hate to see this season go down the tubes, and let's be honest. No Palmer and no chance of a Super Bowl. Would it be better to just wait until next year? It sucks, but I don't want to ruin this guy. What do you think?
The_Next_Big_Thing
People heal differently. Palmer should come back when his body is ready, not when Boomer thinks it should be ready. This season won't go down the tubes if Palmer misses a game or two.
Dirk Funk
Palmer is our franchise for at least the next 8 seasons or so...TAKE YOUR TIME. Why did we sign Anthony Wright?
walzav29
Ben missed 4 games last year and the Steelers survived. The Bengals should be able to do the same. I just don't want to be in the same boat as the Jets.
derekshank
Culpepper tore his PCL as well... and is a running QB. Edwards is a WR and obviously needs to be fully back to normal to make an impact. Palmer had his injury on the less important of the two knees for a pocket QB... and will not be at risk to injure it further by the Cheifs game. The real issue is if he will be playing to not get hurt. That is moer of a concern to me than the knee he is rehabing right now. I'll certainly be nervous if he starts the first game... but I doubt any more nervous than week 5 if that's the first game he starts. They aren't going to rush him out there too early. They are thinking the next 10 years as well, so if they are thinking week 1, I'm satisfied that is it the right decision. I just hope he can be as effective early on as he was last year. Like it or not, that knee injury will be in the back of his head.
UK Bengal
I feel that if carson plays any time in preseason and is comfortable you will see him start game 1 at the chiefs. If he doesnt play any role in preseason I'd expect him to miss 4-6 games and tbh I'm happy with that as what was said earlier he is our franchise qb for the next 8 years no need to get him injured again if hes not 100% just to maybe win 4 games where we could have gone 2-2 without him. Stripes
All the reports I've seen have Culpepper on pace to play the season opener as well.To answer the question posed in the thread title, no I don't want Palmer to risk it in the least. If he is starting against the Chiefs, then I'll have to assume he is at 100% and it isn't a risk anymore.
Tasher
There will be no risk to have Carson playing any more than there is ALWAYS a risk to any player on the field. The staff will have it right and will prepare him for whatever eventuality.Pennington has a throwing shoulder problem, if you rush that you are putting stress on an already injured and not healed joint that is the weakest joint in the body and is what his career depends on.Carson has a knee injury to his non-power knee, is not a running/scrambling QB and sufferred the 2nd fewest sacks in the league, so I would say the "risk" is minimal.Lets see more 15 step drops out of the shotgun! True, everytime a player steps on the field there is risk. The risk for the Bengals is quite high that he comes back too soon rather than too late. Palmer is game, he wants to come back quick. My guess is they'll wait alittle longer than Palmer wants and make sure that once Palmer says he 100%, he proves it on the practice field by going a couple weeks without knee pain, swelling and the MRI's prove all is well. My money is on mid October to mid November.Hey unrelated subject, but I don't live in Ohio anymore and I haven't been to the new Reds ballpark. This July I will be in town and I want to take in a couple games. Anybody know what part of the park has great seats without paying a ton of cash? Also what's good to eat there? Any good local beers on tap?

If I hear of future MRI's I can only assume that it is bad news. But I understand what you are saying. The team is going to be more cautious than Palmer will, because he just wants to get out there and compete so damn bad.As for Great American Ballpark... I've only been there a couple times, but I've walked around the stadium, and was hardpressed to find any place that seemed like a bad seat. It's a good ball-park, and is not selling out, so you should be able to find some decent seats.
