Reggie McNeal Show

Recommended Posts

If I may make another broad generalization, the value of a WR's ability to throw doesn't seem to be in the number of passes attempted, but in the fear that such a play is possible. As Randle El's time as a WR increased, he attempted fewer passes, but had a higher completion rate and scored more points.

Draw whatever conclusion you want regarding McNeal, I just think it's interesting...

This was exactly the point I was making. You and I seem to be in complete agreement. The fear of the gadget play is almost as much of an impact of a successful gadget play taking place, simply because it is something the defense has to plan and account for.

Rookie mini-camp, according to .com....

But McNeal, who hadn’t worn gloves since 1998 and his freshman stint as a high school receiver, used them to make a couple of sticky catches and had a good morning of transition. He beat Mayville State corner DeMarcus Rideaux, here on a tryout, down the right sideline for an over-the-shoulder big play.

“It’s not going to be hard for him (to make the change),” said the camp’s only quarterback, Eastern Washington free agent Erick Meyer. “He looked like he was getting it pretty good for the first time playing receiver. It does seem to come naturally to him.”

McNeal said he felt a lot better after the workout. “Now I think I can do it,” but he when they gave him No. 10 he said he didn’t think of Kordell Stewart but of his arch-rival at Texas.

“I got to get out of this number,” he said with a laugh. “No, it’s OK.” . ..

McNeal should be able to get to throw some, too, during the five practices so they can save Meyer’s arm. . .

I have a feeling Reggie will have his own highlight reel in stripes by this time next year that's worth watching also. I think he can be a legitimate Henry replacement potentially. Speed, size (6'2") and even better athleticism. Who knows. May take a year or two though.

Im more impressed with video 2. Im sure he'll be a 3rd string WR in two years.

I don't know if he has that much more athleticism than Henry. Henry has speed, size, and can jump through the ceiling. The problem with Henry is he can't jump through prison bars... so McNeal's learning curve might be getting smaller, if we need him to contribute sooner than expected.

Yeah, in vid #1 he didn't even turn on the jets. But he did in #2! Dang....
