ShulaSteakhouse
Well they'll either develop him as a QB, or a slot WR, one or the other, but not both. Wonder if he could return punts also. I could see him taking some direct snaps and reverses and working his way into a WR role, and if he makes the roster, could have some designed QB plays. But other than that, I can't see them using him at QB. He's an exciting player. Should make Broussard moot finally.
Kazkal
Damn ....... Kinda want him to be our back up QB and WR I'm cool with just trick plays and mybe send him under center and carson as WR who can cover #9!
andybren
I agree that he will be used in some Randle El-ish manners, but only for deception type plays. I think they had backup QB competition more in mind with the pick than pass receiver. From what I hear, he's nothing special as a passer. And I don't see the Bengals having some Michael Vick-type scheme in reserve, just in case the first 2 QB's go down.Or, to paraphrase Bratkowski, he'll make the team as an athlete, not as a quarterback.Given the choice between Randle El who is primarily not a QB, and Seneca Wallace who is only a backup QB, I'll take Randle El.Like I said earlier, give me the end-around with a possible pass to Chad. Not the 4 or 5 plays a year that telegraphs to the other team that a gadget is coming.

We are stacked at WR with Chad, Housh, Henry, Perry and Chatman even if we do trade Washington. Therefore, with those two factors in play, anytime he's on the field is going to telegraph a gadget play.
BTG
Imagine them lining him up in the slot next to Chad & TJ....then he drops back a few yards and catches a pass (thrown backwards) from Carson....then he hits Chris Henry on a post pattern where the safety on that side was supposed to be.My mouth is watering...is that normal? Sorry for all the ellipses, but damn.
BengalChamps
I cant wait to see McNeil do an Antawn imitation against the Squeelers! The crowd chanting Reggie! Reggie! Maybe they spend a whole day a training camp for McNeil's trickeration plays! I put the over/under on Reggie's TD passes for the season at 3. I say 2 TD passes, with one happening in each of the Steelers games.
kingwilly
I thinkthe biggest upside to this McNeal p[ick, beyond the possibility of the tricks he can execute (fake FG, reverses, flea-flickers, etc, etc) is that this player, when immersed in this offense, will better be able to make plays should Carson go down...as in, roll-out, scramble, wind the clock, QB draw...think of it this way, after Kimo detonated CP's knee, if we had an "up-to-speed" McNeal for that AFC Wild-card game instead of Kitna....I think we win...based on McNeal is a better athlete/better arm. This is where the long-term value of McNeal is...and don't say that is why we grabbed Wright..he is a one year fix..
