Spor_tees
In light of the Ricky Williams situation in Miami, the Dolphins need another back to team up with Ronnie Brown to keep their two back rotation intact. Joe says this should be a draft day deal with some draft picks exchanging hands. Maybe this will be how the Bengals trade up???The Dolphins hold the 16th pick. ArmyBengal
Well, I would think if a Wimbley or Lawson were there targets, this wouldn't be bad, but I'm not a fan of giving up on Perry right at this time. You could argue either side of this and be right !!!WHODEY !!!
bengalboomer7
I would have believed it if you would have said Bo said it, cuz Bo knows football. Joe don't know s**t.BTW, I knew a thread like this wouldn't take long.
GapControl
Why would anyone trade Chris Perry? This is the era of split-time running backs. There is no better second RB in the NFL than Perry. The guy is amazing on an NFL football field. Completely worthy of his 1st round pick. None of the d-players in this draft are worth trading him away.
Who Dey Time
Negative on this deal. Not a chance that this goes down.Maybe if you would have said Kenny Watson, I would think about it. WHO-DEY!

If I take your post literally - that you wouldn't trade Perry for Mario Williams - then I really have to question your sanity.I'd pull the trigger on this deal in a second. Possibly less. The Dolphins, for what it's worth, would laugh in our faces however, since there will be RBs available at 16 who are substantially better than Perry, and not just LenDale ("Ow, my Hammy!") White. If people are so damned insistent on having a 2-back set, fine - but you don't invest a 1st-round pick in the second back! Perry was Rudi insurance, nothing more, and it was damned expensive insurance.

None of the D-players of value at 16 will be worth trading Perry. A couple of 2back set examples: Holmes/Johnson KC, Bettis/Parker Pitt... and FB Mack Strong/Alexander. All significant reasons these teams ran all over people last year. I know Strong is mainly a blocker but he made a nice impact in the Superbowl. Oh, here is another one: Dillon/Faulk. The game has changed now. Perry is a proven talent. When he resigns once his rookie contract expires or is about to expire, he will draw much less cash than he is worth. That is a reason he is worth holding on to besides his athletic-freakazoid capability. I never would take a rookie over a proven athlete the caliber of Perry. At that point, it's your talent evaluation against the entire rest of the NFL, and I have to call homer-ismI'll take a rookie that projects to be a stud over a 2-year player who hasn't done much in the NFL. Also, this is a very deep draft for defensive players - there will be game changers available at 16. I like having Perry, but I don't think he's done anything I wouldn't expect from a 3-4 rounder. BTG
Who said this? Joe who? Also, the initial post says nothing about Chris Perry, so why the speculation? Plus he's not the type of back Saban seems to want (he's kind of the anti-Ricky Williams).

I wouldn't be against trading Perry if it means landing a stud DT, DL, etc. You will not get that type a player at #16 (Miami's pick). Plus, if you believe that the Bengals are going to run more this season, Perry becomes even more valuable. WHO-DEY!
derekshank
There's no way this deal gets done... and not because the Bengals don't want to trade Perry. Don't get me wrong. I like Perry's potential... but there is no way a team is going to give up the 16th overall pick for an injury prone unproven running back.Perry is good for our passing game, so it would force us to take a step backward, but I'd probably take the deal if it were offered. However, it won't be offered. Perry is a known quantity, and that's not a positive at this point. He may still have a lot of potential... but not significantly more than the 16th overall pick.Besides... what are the Dolphins going to do in '07 with Brown, Ricky and Perry? Talk about cap hell. The_Next_Big_Thing
I thought Joe said we were trading David Klingler and Chris Perry to the Texans for the #1 pick so we could get Bush?
Section 310
There is no way the Dolphins would give up a number one pick for Perry (who has yet to show that he can be an NFL running back). That said, if the Fins were interested I would jump on it in a heartbeat. This team can grab a reserve back in Rounds 4-7, and could use number 16 to select a solid corner, safety, or DE. This would mean the Bengals could grab a potpourri of players in Rounds 1 and 2 that would start immediately and make a huge impact. Imagine walking away with new starters at TE, SS, and DT before round 3. That would be nice.
HoTbOy
I am in the keep CPerry boat...like someone said you need 2 quality backs now, I wanted to trade RJohnson for JAbraham so you know I don't want to get rid of CPerry...even though I like KWatson Ilike CPerry better....he is our RBush.. San Antonio Bengal
Trading Chris Perry doesn't make sense for either team unless Perry is just one component of a blockbuster trade, but I don't see that happening.
AMC
This thread shows that the week before the draft people can LOSE THEIR MINDS and make crap up for no reason! This is my least favorite week in the NFL year.
BTG
Guys, it wouldn't be Perry for a 1st rounder. It would be our 24th pick and Perry for a 1st rounder and perhaps a third.AND WHO IS THIS JOE PERSON?
Kirkendall
Trade Perry and Rudi gets hurt, then we're up s**t creek. We won't hurt our depth -- that'd be too
Stripes
Agreed, Kirk. I am not entirely against all the trade Perry proposals I see here, but he is very good depth at a very important position. He won't be enough to get us into the top ten in the draft, and any players after that aren't worth him in my book.
Spain
Who knows what could happen, 16 would give us one of the last impact playas on D. Perry is going to be good. Id imagine they would swap picks and then give us a low first rounder. It could be a block buster as well. Dunno but it smells like fish! Kazkal
well If we traded perry then we'd need a apss catching TE sense there goes our weapon and reason why people say we dont need a te

jamesbrooks21
Marvin is not going to trade up. Period. He has said it before that it would take too much to do so. If were going to talk trading up let's just go for it all. Carson to Houston for the rights to Bush. The Texans could then confuse everyone when Carr lines up at WR.
