So, who was the snitch?

Take this with a grain of salt as I got this from Stillers.com and haven't been able to confirm it, but this is what they say Lapham said about the Chad signing . . .

"Chad has done an outstanding job this off season in reshaping his body and studying how to complete his game. The coaches saw this and passed word along so that the negotiations could proceed. Now maybe the fans who were grasping for straws with Chad Johnson locker room incident will realize nothing of substance occurred to affect the teams play. Jon Kitna was the problem not Chad and Jon has taken his problem to Detroit so we can all move on."

Is Laph right? I remember he banging on Chad pretty hard after this whole thing went down. Maybe he was in the know in this. Hmmm . . .

Mods: If this belongs in the current Chad thread, my apologies. Please move it at your leisure.

Well, Lapham would know who the snitch was since he was directly involved in leaking the rumor. BTW, I read on another message board that Lance has also named Kitna as the snitch.

Looks like we have a snitch running around talking about the snitch! When will it end!!

Just found this same quote on Lance's bBlog (thanks to HOF in another thread). I guess Stillers picked it from there . . .

So much for the Kelly Washington-John Thornton conspiracy theorists. I am surprised about JK though. Doesn't seem like the Christian thing to do.

I know Kitna is "god's child", but maybe some people have put too much of a golden halo on that dude's head. They sure didn't make too much of a move to get him back. Maybe his lockerroom presence was overrated??? Just a thought....

Let's say that Kitna was indeed the snitch (although I'm still not sure I buy it, because it just doesn't seem like his style). He made a mistake, he's not a Bengal anymore... so let's move on. He has received about as bad a punishment any man can endure... the starting QB job in Detroit.

I still see him as a part of the turnaround here in Cincy, so even if it's true I don't hate him. He just had a lapse in judgment. God is holding him accountable now sending him to the Lions (The kind the eat Christians like in the Roman Coliseum... not the kind that Daniel was hanging with).

Kitna himself admitted that months before free agency arrived the Bengals had reduced a contract offer on the table since October of '05. And after signing with the Lions he admitted further that the Bengals not only hadn't improved their reduced offer as free agency approached...he didn't even get a phone call from them.

Kitna WAS the rat.

Does any of this matter ?? Kitna's not here and if it's someone else, we don't know and I can't see it having an ill effect on anything else. Who gives a sh*t ?? Really, who cares ??

WHODEY !!!

Personally, I think it's improtant because I (like the players I assume) want to know that my team has a code of conduct and sticks to it. It's a team and the guys on the team have to know that everyone is pulling in the same direction and everyone's got everyone else's back. When that breaks down (as it did in this situation), I (we?) want to know that justice has been handed down. Only then can we be sure that it's unlikely to rear its ugly head again.

Haven't we wanted this type of justice for years? Again, I think it's improtant to know who it was and that they were really dealt with. I can now sleep safely at night . . . :sure:

Are you kidding ?? Justice ?? First off, all you have to go by is speculation in regards to who the "snitch" was to begin with, so good luck with that one. Then, how are you going to figure out what (if anything) was done to this anonymous person ?? The team doesn't report on things of that nature and at this point, I would believe this topic is a waste of time as none of those things will be determined (only guessed) about.

Code of conduct ?? Now that is something else that left up to interpretation. I don't honestly believe all the rules apply to everyone equally on a sports team and I don't believe the Bengals to be any different in that regard. I do believe this should be something an organization strives for, but there is no way (once again) to figure out if any of that holds weight when it's time to discuss it...

Bottomline, who cares ??

WHODEY !!!

TNTB and AB, if you really don't care, then why are you posting in this thread? Just so that you can shout down a friendly little harmless discussion about a rumor?

As for the issue, of course the team isn't going to report anything on this. We (at least those who care about this) are forced to read between the lines and and make our best guess as to what happened. It is helpful to me to know that my team has a general running the show that SEEMS to not put up with anything of this nature. But that's just me and I guess that isn't as imprortant to you. No big deal.

Dude, relax, no one is shouting, I'm having this conversation right along with you. I just don't see the point and am arguing its relevance from what appears to be a mute point.

You are claiming you want to know your team enforces its set polcies and I argue that you will never be able to ascertain this information. Reading between the lines and your best guess don't seem justify what you are looking for in regards to "justice".

I'm not trying to squash the discussion so to speak, just trying to figure out its relevance (that's why I continue to reply)...

Hey Next Big Thing, just because you don't want to talk about it doesn't mean others don't. Stop acting like a looney and calm down. :)

If Kitna is indeed the snitch, then I have a few questions. Six, to be exact.

1. Does this mean we can now refer to him as Fredo?

2. Is Cincy letting him go to Detroit the equivalent to Michael shipping Fredo to Vegas?

3. Will he grow a cheesy mustache and start running with the wrong crowd when he gets there?

4. Did Marvin Lewis visit him in the offseason and say: "Jon, you're my older quarterback and I love you, but don't ever take sides against the family again. EVER."?

5. Did Marvin approach him at any point, grab his face, and say: "I know it was you. You broke my heart."

6. Is Bob Bratkowski going to take him out fishing on Lake Erie while Marvin watches from a boat house window?

I'll add only one thing. I think it's important to deal with this issue precisely so we can move on. The halftime meltdown may have been blown out of proportion, but it's become an interesting part of the Bengal's unofficial history. We fans made a big deal out of it, many of us demanded to know who the snitch was, and the story won't be closed until the final chapter is written. Lapham and Lance seem to know this and now that Kitna has moved on they no longer feel the need to protect his possible future with the Bengals. In short, he's dead to them now...so they finally gave him up.

Deal with it.

Those of you screaming "who cares" in large threatening fonts are welcome to your opinion, but me thinks you're only ensuring that the tale of Rat Jon never truly dies.

Hair, I may be off, but once again, I don't believe we will ever truly know, thus the "tale of rat Jon" as you called it, NEVER will die...

With it never dying is exactly the reason I say, it doesn't really matter.

I guess I'm just one of those people that never gave much concern to the story to begin with and am of the mindset that it just needs to disappear like a fart in the wind... :fartnew:
